Hello Friends!
The election season is upon us. The Portland Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee invites you to join our METRO Ride and Neighborhood Walk, to discuss the critical transportation issues facing our city, our school children, and what our elected leaders can do to help make our streets safe, joyous, and more successful economically. PBPAC's vision is to make Portland the most walkable small city in the US. We could get there, but we have work to do.
Each year, PBPAC organizes an informational event, typically a bike ride. This year we will be riding the METRO bus and roaming the streets by foot. We hope this will give everyone a new perspective on our public transit service and the needs of people who walk, particularly in our off-peninsula neighborhoods.
Where: Portland City Hall - we will meet on the front steps and return via bus to the same spot
When: Sunday October 4th, 10am-12noonish
Who: Members of the Portland City Council, School Board, and Candidates for those offices, as well as state elected officials and candidates, and members of the community
Why: To learn about our public transportation service, walking, and biking infrastructure in our city, and the policy issues we face at the city and state level
What: We will ride the METRO bus to the Deering neighborhood, disembark for a ~1 mile neighborhood walk, and then return on the 9B line to City Hall at about 12 noon. If folks want to continue the conversation, we may find a venue for that downtown. Bring good shoes for walking!
Riding METRO has never been easier, as you can now pay for your fare with tap to pay! Just bring your phone or a credit card and tap as your board to pay the $2.25 full fare. You can also pay cash.
City staff are welcome to join, but not expected. Please let us know if you have questions, and again, please RSVP so we know to look for you on October 4th!
