Next Meeting: In-Person following Worldwide Day of Remembrance 11/16

Hello folks,

To broaden participation, we will hold our next meeting in-person only, and in coordination with another important event.

Portland Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee November 2025 Meeting

When: Sunday, November 16th, Immediately following the Worldwide Day of Remembrance event

Where: WDoR event will be at 10am at India & Fore Streets

PBPAC will convene immediately afterwards, from about 10:30-12noon, in-person only at Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization / Hill House

We hope as many folks as possible will turn out for the Worldwide Day of Remembrance event at 10am at India & Fore Streets at 10am. This event will take place at the site of the fatal crash this Spring, where a driver of a large vehicle struck and killed longtime resident Joe Lewis while turning at the four-way stop intersection.

We encourage everyone to show up for the 10am memorial to honor and renew our call to ending road violence in our city and state. Paul Drinan of Vision Zero Maine will follow up with more information about the WDoR event, which he is inviting the press to cover.

After the event, which should take about 30 minutes, PBPAC will gather at the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization's Hill House at 92 Congress Street, just up the hill from the memorial. Our agenda will be finalized by next week. Please send any proposed agenda items to me, John, and/or Winston. For now, we will cover:

• Updates on the city's RFP for a Transportation Master Plan, out last week!
• Early brainstorm of 2026 priorities and asks for the city
• Recruiting and electing new leaders for PBPAC - seeking a Secretary, Co-Chair, and District/Neighborhood Captains

Thanks to Michael from MNHO for inviting us to use their adorable little hill house. If you're a Munjoy Hill resident, we also encourage you to participate in another neighborhood-focused event that they'll be holding on Saturday morning. See below for more information on that, though you may have already received it.

Dear Neighbors,

Picking up on recent momentum generated by many (PBPAC, WENA, Trails, BCM, etc.)—and Andrew Zarro's recent call to action for fast-approaching World Day of Remembrance—MHNO invites you to help us launch our own hyper-local effort to make the streets of the East End safer for all.

Join us at MHNO's Hill House (92 Congress) Saturday morning, November 15th, 10:00 - 12:00 to talk traffic, tactics, and strategy over coffee and snacks, maybe produce a deliverable or two, and cap things off with a neighborhood walk audit that may include two nearby intersections that were tragically the sites of pedestrian fatalities within the last year.  We'll likely plan to end at East End Community School, where you can repair your bike, helmet, shoes, or anything else that needs fixing, at the Ripe for Repair Meet-up.

That's just a draft plan--your questions, suggestions, ideas about agenda, audit, or otherwise are very welcome any time.
