When Northpoing pulled my plug (I was one of the very first) I ordered
PacBell adsl day one. I had no idea if my isp was going to reconnect me,
so I had to do it. This was March 29th.
Pac Bell shipped me a adsl modem so fast my head spun. I tried the self
install, no joy. My modem wouldn't sync. Then the wait began. week
2...3....4. A card in the mail. Wiring issues forced delay. Then another
card. Then a bill from PacBell for $690.95. Finally, in mid May, my old isp
was able to migrate me. I cancelled PacBell by calling them. I was told
the Inet stuff was an error and would be credited. It might take 3
billing cycles to clear.
June 7, my next bill. It has grown. They are billing me for the install
and the service now. I call, same bulls$%t.
July 7, my bill for pbi is now 850.00. Called and got the same crap. "I
have just credited everything back to your account. It will take a few
cycles....."
Aug 7, The bill is now over $1000.00. I called, same crap. I'm nice,
then I yell, then I speak to the supervisor. "I have just credited
everything back to your account. It will take a few cycles.....". To top
it off, Im told that I never returned the modems (yes, somewhow they
decided I use two of them.Maybe that's why it never worked!). I
returned the one that I did get. Here's the UPS tracking number, you
be the judge 1za56r410612408787 @ ups.com
Today, I get a notice saying my bill is delinquent for $1080.00. This came
before my current bill was even due. I guess it's big money to them now! My
phone is being shut off if I don't submit. I call. As usual, it's menu hell
before
reaching their useless personnel. These people have the nerve to ask
me for "alternate numbers that they can reach me at"! Translated, this means
that they have every intention of disconnecting my phone line and would
still like
a number to leave harassing messages at! Anyway, I tell them to email me on
the
nonexistant service they are reaming me for. She finally gives up on getting
contact info and puts me through to some less helpful idiot. I have just
spent
4 hours on the line with this guy. Same crap as before. "I have just
credited
everything back to your account. It will take a few cycles....."
