The surgeon's scalpel, or the Sword of Damocles?

A short, sharp use of force, or the lead force of a larger conflict?

Broadsword is both of these, all of these, and more.

By 2011, it was recognized within the North Atlantic Treaty
Organization (NATO) that public use of even Special Operations Forces
was becoming wearying to NATO publics. That being the case, national
special operations forces are being gradually withdrawn from
Afghanistan, in line with the overall NATO drawdown.

That does not mean, however, that NATO's need for a certain covert
edge to its striking power is over.

Hence, a unit has been established, formed from Special Operations
personnel from across the NATO alliance.

That unit is a reinforced battalion of special operations troops,
organized under the project name of Broadsword.

Broadsword's missions range throughout the spectrum of conflict, from
conventional special operations tasks to unconventional warfare and
direct action. Recruited from special operations soldiers throughout
the Alliance, this is NATO's sharpest edge of the sword - meant to act
so that the conventional forces of NATO, or national special
operations forces, never need to be used.

Broadsword is a modern-era sim focusing on the actions and members of
a NATO special-operations force in the modern era (after the Iraq war,
and with the Afghanistan conflict drawing to a close). Not your
conventional sim (in any regard), it combines semi-realistic plotting
and character creation with broadly cinematic events within missions.
We're applying to join (and hosted by) UCIP, and use the Nova Play-by-
Web system to play. Please be advised that due to our expected content
(involving realistic depictions of war and combat, among other
things), this sim is only open to those 17 years and older.

As it is, virtually all positions are open - far too many to list
exhaustively, but including at the senior levels:

Unit staff officers:
S-3 (Operations and Plans Officer)
S-4 (Logistics and Supply Officer, also commander of the attached
logistics company)
S-6 (Signals and IT Officer - in other words, heads the group
responsible for communications and any computer activity that may be
needed)
Battalion Surgeon (also commander of the attached medical company)

---

Combat forces:

Infantry Company Commander (4 infantry companies, all slots open)
Infantry Company Executive Officer (for all 4 companies)
Rifle Platoon Leader (for all 12 rifle platoons)
Weapons Platoon Leader (for all 4 weapons platoons)
And numerous subordinate positions beneath these.
