Handling of a single episode spread over multiple OG carriers

Hello PBCore Community!

Newbie here with a newbie question.  

A lot of the discussion of the Part elements refer to one item that has many parts (disc with songs, box set, etc.).  Would the Parts elements also work when one intellectual asset is spread over multiples carriers?  

Example: XYZ archives has one Betacam with part 1 of 2 of Sesame Street episode 402 and also another Betacam with part 2 of 2 of the same episode.  Using instantiations within a description document doesn't seem right (different content on each tape), but perhaps part does?    

Alternatively, each part is each own asset that gets related to the other parts by Relation.  In this case, each of those assets will have at one matching ID (program number), but one different ID (barcode based).

Any thoughts or help is much appreciated!

Doh!  Asset type "segment" should probably solve everything.  :)
