Hi I bought Hatch Digitzer 3, last year. Never got to use it. But when I finally got around to doing anything with it. My computer died, my friend generously gave me her old Mac book since I can't afford to build a new computer now. But my hatch digitizer 3 doesn't work on Mac computers, I'm hoping to at least get the money I spent on it back which was $800.

Some of these programs take up a decent chunk of space and require specific processing abilities like Hatch, which opened as slow as Christmas on my old slow-processor computer. (Read my list of best laptop and desktop computers for embroidery software for sample specs.)
Aly,
This was the most comprehensive review and help I have found online. I am new to machine embroidery and loving it so far but need some software. Thank you for taking the time to write this and research it. It was very valuable to me.

Are you able to import SVG, jpg or png files to auto-digitize using the doodler software? Are there ever any discounts or sales on the price? John Deer does very nice videos and classes for embroidery training.
This was most useful. Thank you for the reviews! I outsource logo digitizing but I do fast digitizing of names on old software and old computer that is working past its time. All I need is a few reliable scalable fonts and easy process to put together name a credentials. I got pricey software when buying one of the commercial embroidery machines but the fonts that came with it are low quality and I do not trust additional packs to be any better. It took me a while to learn it too and now I am fed up. The Hatch Personalizer seems like the right fit. Are the fonts good quality? is it fairly quick process to get name done? I appreciate the work you put into this. Kat
Yes, those people are called digitizers. Prices per design can range from $5-$25+ depending on the complexity of the design. If you only need a few files here and there, it will be much easier and inexpensive to use a digitizer rather than purchasing and learning to use digitizing software yourself!
As for the faux-merrow stitch, Hatch has satin stitches with tons of variations you can use for patch edges. You can also create your own motif that looks like a merrow stitch and use that within Hatch. Or, you can simply buy an embroidery design from someone else who already has created the faux merrow stitch and use that each time you want a patch border stitch when using Hatch software. (John Deer has some, I know.)
