I was looking for the best video player for Windows 11 and tried 7 different ones: Windows 11 Media Player, mpv.net, mpv.io, smplayer, potplayer, mpc-hc and mpc-be. They are the most talked about and recommended in Reddit. I added in Windows 11 Media Player because it surprisingly played a 4k 10-bit HEVC video very smoothly. I'm posting my search results here so that anyone else who's looking for a video player can use it as a reference.
This is really annoying as it start playback which plays audio when the computer gets out of suspend even if smplayer was paused before suspend. I have not found a way to stop it apart from unlocking the computer and pausing smplayer again.
It also comes with the interesting 'feature' of smplayer not quitting anymore when you close its window or quit the program. The lock screen 'feature' seems to keep the process alive in the background for no other reason than displaying it. A nice consequence of this is that my grandma got welcomed by the last porn session of my grandpa when she went to the computer to check a recipe on the internet.
VLC is great on windows, but SMPlayer is also an excellent alternative:
