Think about your daughter and do the right thing!" Capstone Pictures has revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi survival thriller titled Breathe, the latest by a director named Stefon Bristol, who also made the small scale sci-fi comedy See You Yesterday previously. This is his latest creation, directing a script about a future on an uninhabitable Earth - as depicted with a heavy orange filter. Lots of climate change near-future sci-fi movies doing this nowadays. Air-supply is scarce in the near future, forcing a mother and daughter to fight to survive when two strangers arrive desperate for an oxygenated haven inside their bunker. Breathe stars Jennifer Hudson and Quvenzhan Wallis (from Beasts of the Southern Wild) as mother and daughter, with Milla Jovovich, Sam Worthington, Common, Ral Castillo, James Saito, Dan Martin, and Kaliswa Brewster. Yet another surprise sci-fi film arriving in theaters soon! It's also debuting on VOD on the same day, which isn't a good sign. Something is off about this, doesn't seem like it's going to work at all.

A heart pounding thriller set in the future. After Earth is left uninhabitable due to lack of oxygen, a mother Maya (Hudson) and her daughter Zora (Wallis) are forced to live underground, with trips to the surface only made possible by a coveted state of the art oxygen suit made by Maya's husband, Darius, whom she presumes to be dead. When a mysterious couple arrives that claim to know Darius and his fate, Maya agrees to let them into their bunker but these visitors are not who they claim to be resulting in a mother and daughter fighting for their survival. Breathe is directed by American genre filmmaker Stefon Bristol, making his second feature after directing the time travel film See You Yesterday previously, as well as a few other shorts. The screenplay is written by Doug Simon. Produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Christian Mercuri. This hasn't premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Capstone will debut Bristol's Breathe in select US theaters + on VOD starting April 26th, 2024 coming up this spring. Look any good?

We have the first trailer for the new movie by Drake Doremus (LIKE CRAZY), and it's a solid ad for the movie, if somewhat unrepresentative of the actual film. I was lucky enough to see BREATHE IN, which stars Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, Amy Ryan, an excellent newcomer named Mackenzie Davis, and Kyle MacLachlan in a cameo, at this past Sundance, and it tied up with BEFORE MIDNIGHT as my favorite movie(s) of the festival. The trailer kind of plays up this sense of heightened suspense, and intense drama, but the film is nothing like that. Doremus creates a sense of humdrum normality where the life of an almost-was music teacher is just waiting to get rocked by an injection of the unfamiliar. It is that very sense of boring everyday life that makes the connection between Pearce and Jones' characters amazingly potent. The trailer almost makes it seem like some lurid, LOLITA-esque affair, which is completely off, but it does get across the fragility of their physical contact (the touching of the hands, etc.) and how powerful the impact is to both characters. There is a scene where Pearce's music teacher becomes aware of Jones' talent at the piano (not seen in the trailer) that is one of the most openly emotional beats in recent memory, even though to the untrained eye, it would be easy to think that nothing significant is even happening. You really do empathize with both characters, and their connection is so visible, that you really do hope they figure out some way to make their thing, whatever it is, work. The film has a tragic, deeply nuanced performance by Pearce, and the 30 year-old Jones makes a huge impression while playing someone at least 12 years her junior. I highly recommend catching this one when it rolls out.

The first trailer for Don't Breathe 2 is here. The original film, directed by Fede lvarez, originally premiered at SXSW in 2016 on its way to becoming a summer sleeper hit. Don't Breathe received a glowing reception from critics and audiences alike who praised its white-knuckle thrills and shocking twists, grossing a total of $157 million on a $10 million budget. Although lvarez and the majority of the original cast aren't returning for the upcoming sequel, Don't Breathe 2 is still highly anticipated regardless.

Stephen Lang is reportedly the only returning cast member from the original film, reprising the role of Norman Nordstrom AKA The Blind Man. The first film followed three young adults as they broke into Norman's house knowing that he is blind in the hopes of stealing a large amount of cash. Unbeknownst to them, Norman is a Gulf War veteran with a knack for killing who is hiding some serious secrets inside his basement. Don't Breathe 2 is flipping the script, though, if early plot details are any indication, as it will follow Norman as he tries to rescue a young girl from a group of criminals who have broken into his isolated home and kidnapped her.

Now, IGN has released the first trailer for Don't Breathe 2, giving fans a glimpse at Lang's return and what's in store for his new victims. The trailer sees Lang's Norman Nordstrom taking care of an orphaned girl. When she is kidnapped, her captors tease their knowledge of Norman's complicated past, something he clearly doesn't want revealed. Just when they think they're in the clear, though, Norman comes back to haunt them and take back what's been taken from him. Check out the full clip below:

The trailer for Don't Breathe 2 certainly proves what the synopsis insinuates - although the first film posited the Blind Man as a villain, it seems like the sequel will see Norman Nordstrom become the protagonist. Still, it's clear that his past will still be haunting him in the new film. The captors who come for the girl he is taking care of mention something about knowing who he really is, indicating that more details about Norman's past may be uncovered in the new film. It's possible that these captors are even trying to protect the girl from Norman.

One thing is staying the same from the original Don't Breathe, though. Norman will find new and disturbing ways to torture those who have wronged him. From using water to detect intruders to throwing a hammer at someone running away from him, it looks like Don't Breathe 2 will have its fair share of chill-inducing violence. Luckily, it won't be long until audiences get to see what's in store, as the film hits theaters this August.

This morning, the Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser trailer arrived just as fans hoped and expected it would. We've been waiting for our first official glimpse at the sequel for a long time, and this teaser did not disappoint. Some exciting new details were revealed that raised more questions than answers, but that's exactly what a Star Wars teaser trailer is supposed to do.

Because we're obsessed with all things Star Wars, you knew that we were going to do a Star Wars The Last Jedi trailer breakdown diving into all the important details that you might not have noticed. But beware of some possible spoilers.

The orchestra slowly rises and an image comes into view...and it's interrupted by the sudden appearance of someone, just like the teaser trailer for The Force Awakens. Interestingly enough, I think this might actually end up being the first shot of the movie since the image fades from what looks like stars in space (the kind we traditionally see after the opening crawl is done) to the glistening of rocks on the ground. But this time it's not Finn who pops into the image. It's Rey, and she looks like she's tired and out of breath. It would appear that she's started training with Luke Skywalker, which is interesting considering what we'll hear him say at the end of the trailer.

As we see picturesque shots of Skellig Michael, we hear Mark Hamill's voiceover say, "Breathe." He's talking to Rey, but he might as well be talking to excited fans as they watch this trailer. Here Rey stand looking out over the ocean, perhaps in a moment of self-doubt, or maybe in a moment of frustration. After all, Daisy said during the film's Star Wars Celebration panel that Rey has to deal with the fact that meeting your heroes doesn't always turn out how you expect. So perhaps she and Luke Skywalker will not get along so easily at first.

Luke's voiceover continues as he tells Rey to "Reach out," as we see Rey's hand touching the ground and pieces of rock start floating around her. This looks to be another part of her training as she tries to figure out how to use the Force in a more focused way. We cut to black as Luke says, "What do you see?"

We, the audience, see this shot of General Leia on the bridge of a ship. Which ship, we do no know, but it might be one of the larger ships we see in a later shot in space. It's clearly the reverse shot of one of the behind-the-scenes photos that emerged online during the panel for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (which you can check out over here). If I'm not mistaken, I believe you can hear a faint whisper of Leia's signature line "Help me Obi-Wan..." as this shot fades through, just before Rey more firmly says "Light."

The music changes a bit, giving us a cue of what the score sounds like when Kylo Ren is around in The Force Awakens. That makes sense since it appears that his mask has been destroyed in this scene. Did Kylo smash it himself in anger? We've seen him throw fits before, so I wouldn't be surprised. During this shot we hear Rey say "darkness," but just before that there's another faint line of dialogue that sounds like Alec Guiness as Obi-Wan saying something about the "dark side."

Then this mysterious shot shows up. It appears to be a collection of books sitting on a shelf that's part of a tree. This is likely that tree we've seen in photos from the set of The Last Jedi. We've heard rumors that Luke is protecting a tree from an old Jedi temple, which was first explored in the Star Wars: Shattered Empire comic, but it looks like we'll get more of an explanation as to its significance this time. There's also another faint voice before the next shot and line in the trailer. It sounds like Yoda, but for the life of me, I can't make out what he's saying. Could it be "You have the power. Use it"? But then another time I thought I heard, "Control your anger." I'm sure someone who can isolate the audio will figure it out soon enough.
