Foryears I've known about Sneaking to place a block on/against an interactable block, such as an item frame on a chest or a hopper on top of a furnace, but I've seen people doing this exact thing in youtube videos while flying in Creative Mode and they do not move, at all.

When I attempt to place a block on the side of an interactable I begin to fly down making it a sort of minigame for me to place a block while flying. So my only method to place a block on an interactable block is to get a few blocks above, press Sneak, and as I whiz by my target location I have a few milliseconds to place the block against the interactable.

Again, I see people doing this exact thing in Creative mode, while flying many blocks in the sky, on minecraft youtube channels and they can place a hopper against the side of chest without moving downwards at all.

Is there some separate hotkey all together (that is not under Controls, or documented anywhere) aside from Sneaking that allows for this? Are they using 3rd party java mods? Are my controls messed up? I reset them to Default and used Shift (both Left and Right) to attempt to place a block while flying and I still had the same results: I'd fly straight down.

Here I am holding shift+alt, shift+ctrl, shift+[A-Z], shift+[F1-12] shift+TAB, etc... except the jump key and on top of it makes sense it would naturalize the Sneaking while flying--yet never occurred to me.

I've put up a 100m course, where I fly straight for 100 meters. I get myself a few meters for getting a running start, so that this doesn't skew the results. Here's the result. Make sure subtitles are on.

For those who can't view YouTube: Once you remove the setup time, the speed is just about the same. Flying without sprinting oddly wins by a couple tenths (9.33 vs 9.38, roughly), but I just put it to a problem that exists between my monitor and my chain (was I perfectly centered? perfectly aligned? did I avoid swerving at all? etc.).

The flight speed in Minecraft 1.8 is the same as, or faster than the sprinting speed on land. So, it doesn't really matter either way; you'll always go the same speed when flying, from what I can tell.

I host a small server for my friends and me. It has worked well for me, until recently. My one friend, who has very bad internet, has been kicked by the server for "flying while flying is disabled." Flying is not enabled, and we are all in survival mode, but he gets kicked for this. Nobody else has this problem on my server except him. He has no mods or plugins on his client. Like I said before he has a slow/bad connection, so the only thing I can think would be happening is he is lagging and is thought to be flying by the server. I don't know if there is any way to fix this, and I would like to keep flying disabled. Thanks for any help if you have some.

It may also be worth noting that he frequently says he is "in a wall." When I go to his location, he is appears to be standing above the ground, though he still claims to be "in a wall." He can be shot, punched, ECT. while he is in this state. This sounds like internet lag to me, but I'm not sure.

No, the "allow flying" option in the config is there to prevent people who have flyhacks or flying cheats of the sort from flying. If flying isn't in a mod or a plugin that the server has, it'll kick a player for being in the air without touching the ground after a few seconds of staying there. Turning on flying in the config just disables being kicked for flying, it won't let everyone fly in survival mode. You need a plugin, mod, or creative mode to fly.

If lag is a problem for you, check where your server is hosted and make sure he isn't lagging because his ping is really high. You can see your ping by hovering over the green bars to the right of a minecraft server and should come up with something along the lines of, 67MS, whatever there number may be determines the speed at which your server and there internet send and receive packets.

Check your internet speeds at www.speedtest.net to make sure your internet isn't too slow for the game. This should help if any other players lag on your server. They can also on Windows, open Command Prompt (CMD) and type ping (your server IP) then hit enter. Once its done it should say around the lines of "average ping/MS" that can also help determine if the lag is your player or the hosting company.

"Minecraft" maps can be massive, so it's no wonder that many players prefer flying to walking. Flying in "Minecraft" means faster and more efficient travel uninterrupted by mountains, trees and bodies of water.

There are a few different ways to fly when playing "Minecraft." In Creative mode, flying is as simple as the tap of a key or button on console. In Survival mode, however, you'll have to earn the ability to fly by finding an equippable item called Elytra.

Elytra works very differently from the sort of flying you do in Creative and Spectator mode. It's more like gliding, and you can't fly forever. However, you can hack that by equipping fireworks while you glide.

Important: By default, you'll by doing all your flying in first-person mode. Press F5 (or Fn + F5 on some Macs), or press in the left joystick on your controller to see your character in third-person view. This makes flying much easier.

When your legs begin to wobble when gliding with an Elytra, it's an indication you're losing altitude. If you're not ready to go down just yet, equip a firework rocket in your hotbar and use the item. This will give you a big speed boost, shooting you back into the sky. You can, in theory, fly for as long as you have firework rockets to spend.

Just note that the Elytra also has its own durability, which will go down the more you fly. You can repair an Elytra by combining it with two phantom membranes at an anvil, or by combining two damaged Elytras.

It's pretty hard for someone like me to get to places. I can't drive. I can't ride a bike. I can't really be bothered to walk. I'm pretty good at rolling, when I gain enough weight, but usually the way I get to work is by falling over and crying loudly until someone carries me to the Mojang offices.

Lately, however, I've been thinking of changing my lazy ways and learning how to fly a plane; now that I've seen Steampunk Flying Machine by Wisa! I tried falling over and crying until Wisa carried me aboard and handed me the keys to the machine. Sadly, he was having none of it.

Saying that, Wisa did sit still long enough to watch the anime Laputa: Castle in the Sky (although I suppose he could have watched it standing). The film features a massive airship, and soon Wisa was inspired to craft his own flying machine.

Flight can be toggled in Creative Mode by double-tapping the "jump" key and can be activated at any altitude. By pressing the jump or sneak keys the player can gain or lose in altitude, respectively. Holding the sprint key allows you to move faster while flying.

In Pocket Edition, tap the jump button (o) twice to enter the fly mode. Use ^ to go forward, for right, and v to go backward. Press jump and ^ to fly upwards, and jump and v to go downwards. To exit flying mode, double-tap jump again.

On the Console Editions, players must press (Xbox) or (PS3/PS4) twice in order to start flying. Holding down / will make one fly up. In order to descend, one can either double-tap / again or press the right joystick. Alternatively, players can use the "D-pad" on the Xbox editions to slowly fly up or down. Using the left joystick will move the user horizontally, however, pushing it forwards twice quickly will let one "sprint-fly". While "sprint-flying" simultaneously, the movement plane will change in such a way that it will cause forward movement to go directly towards the crosshairs instead of towards them and at the same altitude as ordinary movement would cause. The host of a game can enable flying in survival mode by using host privileges. However, if one uses host privileges, then it will disable the ability to obtain achievements/trophies and add progress to the leader-boards.

This is the fundamental idea of scale-to-zero on Fly Machines: shut them down when no one is using them, but start them back up again when the user needs it, fast enough that no one is ever the wiser.

Now we get to the meat of it: the fly_machine block. We start off by defining some basics: the machine name, what app it belongs to, what region it should run in, and what image it should run. In this case we use the super awesome minecraft-server Docker image from itzg.

Once the command stops running, open up your Minecraft Java Edition installation, head to the multiplayer screen and connect to flymcapp.fly.dev (once again replacing it with the app name you chose earlier) and find a tree to cut down with your fist!

Summary

Enabling flying on a Minecraft server enhances the gameplay experience by allowing quick and easy travel. It is beneficial for large worlds and for using mods that provide flying capabilities. Enabling flying also prevents players from getting kicked off the server for attempting to fly without permission. This feature enhances the overall multiplayer experience and creative freedom for players.

In this tutorial we will show you two different methods for enabling/allowing flight in your Minecraft Server. By default, Minecraft sets this option to Disabled. If you have mods which have flying functionality, you will need to Enable this option.
