The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below. We've also created some screenshots of Windows Photo Gallery to illustrate the user interface and show the overall usage and features of this photo gallery program.

Windows Photo Gallery includes powerful and easy-to-use editing tools that you can use to work on dozens of photos simultaneously. Correct imperfections, adjust color and exposure, fix red eye, and even "fuse" two or more photos (such as different versions of a group shot) into one. And with the auto-editing features, Photo Gallery can even improve the look of your photos for you. With new search features, organizing tools, and tagging options like face recognition, finding photos in your collection is easier than ever. You can search by names, tags, date, or location. Photo Gallery will learn to recognize the people in your pictures and make tag suggestions -- the more you use it, the better it gets.Windows Photo Gallery creates impressive slide shows, email your photos, and publish pictures and videos directly to websites like Flickr, Facebook, and OneDrive. If you use OneDrive, you'll have enough free storage space to upload and share thousands of photos.

I have a windows 10 laptop with firefox as the default browser. I do not like windows 10 photos, so I downloaded a older copy of windows photo gallery which I am used to and prefer. This has been working fine until recently. Now firefox saves images to windows 10 photos. I made sure to make photo gallery the default app for all images (jpegs etc.) but it still saves them to windows 10 photos.

I just updated from firefox 84.0.1 to 84.0.2 and it looks like it's working again?!? I think I updated to 84.0.1 around the time I first noticed the problem. Is it possible .1 caused my problem and .2 fixed it? (The possibility also exists that I am incompetent at operating my windows 10 laptop :) Well it seems to be working now, thanks again for taking the time to reply.

I just realized the images are not in windows 10 photo gallery either!? they are just in the firefox downloads library and they open in photo gallery but are no longer saved there. Something has changed recently though , and I need to know what setting I'm missing. thanks for any help.

Firefox just downloads the images to the location you pick and that's it for Firefox. When you want to view the pic, Windows will use the default app. see screenshotWhat is your default Photo Viewer app?

This is what's confusing me. I do have my preferred default photo app selected (windows photo gallery, I just checked again now) and up until recently it worked fine. I wonder if a recent windows update (12/10/20) changed some other setting. I was aware when I downloaded photo gallery that windows 10 doesn't support that older application, but it has been working fine until now.

Well something changed, either with windows or firefox, I'm just trying to find out what. I'm not sure why you dismiss the idea that it might be a browser issue. Oh well, I guess I'll look elsewhere for answers. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Due to the way some of our internal programs are written, we have to disable UAC. With UAC disabled, the new default apps in windows 10 will not work. No big deal, all we would do is make the old windows photo viewer the default.

Yeah i dont like turning it off anyway but we dont have a choice until we are able to reprogram our order entry program. With UAC enabled, it completely destroys the ability to load orders on hold. I believe it uses send keys and UAC hates that.

I am unable to find this photo gallery that people are talking about without installing a program called Windows Photo Gallery and Movie Maker 2011. I am pretty positive that Photos is the only photo program that comes natively in Windows 10. dbeato must have installed the photo gallery separately as i cannot find it here on my Windows 10 Education.

i did a fresh install of W10 Edu here at work and i have been looking for a photo viewer like i had in W7. The one in W10 is OK, but this is great. i tried it and it works. Now all i have to do is place this into a GPO for our W10 machines.

It's easy to get the trusty old Windows Photo Viewer back -- simply open up Settings and go to System > Default apps. Under "Photo viewer" you should see your current default photo viewer (probably the new Photos app). Click this to see a list of options for a new default photo viewer. Assuming you upgraded to Windows 10 from a previous version of Windows, you should see Windows Photo Viewer as an option.

This is trickier, because while Windows Photo Viewer is still technically available, it's not easy to find. It does involve editing the Windows Registry, which you should not attempt unless you know what you're doing -- editing the Registry can be dangerous if you make a mistake.

2. Double-click on your new REG file to merge it with your Windows Registry. You will need to click through the User Account Control and a few other windows to allow the file to make changes to the Registry.

3. You should now be able to see the Windows Photo Viewer and set it as the default program for various image files. To do this, open the Control Panel and go to Default Programs > Set Default Programs. Find Windows Photo Viewer in the list of programs, click it and choose Set this program as default. This will set the Windows Photo Viewer as the default program for all file types it can open by default.

Weatherization photo contributions from the WAP network are needed to ensure a robust and inclusive image gallery. Use the Weatherization Image Gallery Submission Form so that NREL can collect the photos, add descriptions, and obtain permission for photo use and credit.
