TFW2005 was able to check out the entire series a bit early thanks to the Netflix and Hasbro PR teams. Read on to check out our thoughts, there may be some minor spoilers but we will keep all the major stuff out so you can enjoy the series yourselves!

that's a hot take: I thought it suffered from a lot of EXACTLY the same problems, largely related to the pacing, ambiguous storytelling and an over reliance on exposition (telling instead of showing): although Godzilla had much better animation and mind bendingly better voice acting (mind you, the voice acting still wasn't that great, but Siege's was REALY bad)

Do comic pros still do columns on there? I used to read the Erik Larsen one.
have not read anything on the site for years but I see their BS articles pop up in my google news stuff. Should try and remove it I guess but I don't even know how.

What they do with the characters, thats up to the writers. Different G1 continuities have had conflicting origins right from the start with the 80s cartoon not matching up to the 80s Marvel comic; but they do still feature the same characters based upon the same toys.

Megatron alludes to his gladiatorial career and that the Decepticons rose to conquer their oppressors. This is a direct hint to his IDW background been used in this show as well. He also spits at Prime been chosen as a leader because of the matrix for the same reason.

So in the end Megatron as in IDW forged a army of the downtrodden and essentially rampaged on Cybertron on a flag of revolution which attempted to overthrow the system, murdered Alpha-Trion and tried to twist this revolt into a means for him to conquer the planet.

I will say it again: This show is not made for the casual fan (ironic, since daily it draws in people who had nothing to do with transformers, which is a huge win/win), but mostly for people who have some kind of background knowledge on the various g1 timelines.

I disagree. These are all separate continuities. IDW in particular has absolutely nothing to do with G1. Just because it uses characters with similar names and, sometimes, similar personalities, doesn't mean it's the same continuity.

yeah, I would love to hear some of the classic toons and voices or voice impesonators that sound like the originals too. Its a pipe dream, Its not going to happen, but man would have my enjoyment of the show shot through the roof even more. I got great feelings from the Devastation game because of the voices.

Generation One is not one single continuity. It is made up of many different continuities based upon the original 1980s toyline, or new toys based upon the old 1980s toylines. All the characters in Siege are new toys based upon the original 1980s toys. Thats what makes it G1.
