DolbyAtmos has reinvented how entertainment is created and experienced, allowing creatives everywhere to place each sound exactly where they want it to go, for a more realistic and immersive audio experience.

If you've ever watched a movie, played a video game or listened to music on your TV, then you've probably heard Dolby Audio. It's the technology behind some of the best-sounding audio products in the world. In this article, we'll talk about what Dolby Audio is and why it matters for your TV.

Dolby Audio is a system for encoding and decoding audio signals. It allows for multiple channels of audio to be encoded in digital form and played back at the same time via multiple speakers to create realistic surround sound experiences. This makes it ideal for watching movies or playing games where immersion is important because sounds will seem like they originate from different places around you rather than from one point in front of you (mono).

Dolby Vision is an image enhancement technology that was designed for use with Ultra HD TVs (UHDTV) but can also be applied to regular HDTV content as well as streaming platforms such as Netflix or Hulu+.

In the quest for the ultimate home entertainment experience, Dolby Audio and Dolby Atmos stand out as two pivotal technologies. While Dolby Audio sets the stage with its immersive sound capabilities, Dolby Atmos takes the experience to new heights with its object-based audio system. Dolby Atmos transcends traditional channel-based audio to bring a three-dimensional soundstage into your living room. By incorporating overhead speakers or using ceiling-mounted speakers to reflect sound, Dolby Atmos creates a more enveloping audio environment that makes you feel as if you're inside the action.

The distinction between Dolby Audio and Dolby Atmos is not just in the technology but also in the content. Dolby Atmos-enabled content is specifically mixed to utilize the additional channels and height speakers, providing a richer and more detailed audio experience. Whether you're watching a blockbuster film or enjoying a live concert, Dolby Atmos delivers a level of realism that standard audio simply cannot match.

For those looking to upgrade their home theater, Dolby Atmos is the pinnacle of audio innovation. It's not just about having more speakers; it's about how those speakers work together to create an audio experience that is truly immersive and lifelike. As the demand for high-quality audio continues to grow, Dolby Atmos stands as a testament to Dolby's commitment to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in home entertainment.

Dolby Audio is a smart way to make your TV sound better. It can create a surround sound effect by simulating the position of different sounds in three-dimensional space. This technology makes it easier for you to hear your favorite characters talking or music playing from all sides, making watching TV more immersive and enjoyable. TCL Smart TVs are equipped with Dolby Audio to provide you with high-quality dynamic surround sound, check out TCL Smart TVs now to get the most immersive experience possible at home!

There might be a large number of users who pay Firecore for Infuse Pro who never use Infuse to play back either of those two specific lossless audio codecs, but who still require Infuse Pro for any number of the other benefits it provides.

This change should allow Firecore to avoid increasing the cost of Infuse Pro as much as they otherwise might need to; if, for instance, they simply continue paying the codec license fees for each subscribed Infuse Pro user, heedless of their suspicion that most of their users never even utilize them.

I completed the purchase on the Apple TV for Dolby, and then a couple of days later did the same for DTS. This morning I got the prompt for DTS on my iPad. I tapped to unlock, at which point it said you have already purchased this, are you sure you want to purchase it again, which I did.

I'd been having weird audio issues since getting my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019. When starting a movie or tv show file, the audio would take a second to kick in after the video has already started. It'd be in sync, but odd nonetheless. I also noticed that LIVE TV would fall out of sync over time. I'd have to stop and restart the show.

However, the real annoying problem I was having was while watching football games that I edit and encode from recordings - I like to re-watch NFL games. All the files would start out as direct play, but when I'd start to use FF to skip between plays or rewind to watch a play again, playback eventually would move over to direct stream then full on transcoding and throw a DirectPlay error. Logs would show that it was all audio related.

I never had issues with direct play of my football games with my previous HTPC, so I thought maybe it had something to do with Emby Android TV, but then I realized that I also use Emby Android TV on my FireTV and do not have these issues on it.

So I was back to wondering what is with this Nvidia Shield that could be causing these problems? I searched the forums here and didn't find anything related to my issue and after looking in the Nvidia Shield's settings and finding what I think has solved everything, I looked again on the forums to see if anyone else pointed it out. No one has or I can't find it ... so here's what solved it for me:

Under Nvidia Shield Settings > Device Preferences > Display & Sound > Advanced sound setttings > Dolby audio processing was toggled ON. I toggled it OFF and have not had any of the above issues since.

I have the latest Nvidia Shield update 8.2.0(32.6.435.1) which may have somehow toggled that ON by default or it's always been on since I've had it. I surmise that this Dolby audio processing was forcing the Shield to always process regardless if it's connected to a receiver that can do the work, therefore causing delays and sync issues. Just a single click and all is well.

"The main purpose of this feature is to convert Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) to Dolby Digital (AC3) on streaming apps for people who use older receivers that don't support EAC3. It does not do any simulated surround processing, but there is an upmix to 5.1 feature in the audio settings that is seperate from this that does upmixing to surround."

The football files' audio that these issues really became prevalent on are all Dolby Digital (AC3) therefore not needing any conversion. My equipment is all fairly new and up to date in regards to handling everything thrown at it, so yeah it was throwing me for a loop as to why I was having these problems. I got a Shield after all the reviews and recommendations from friends, so was very frustrated to say the least when these issues started manifesting themselves.

When I opened a project I had been working on earlier today that has some .ac3 tracks on some of the sequences, those tracks are redded out and I now get an error message "Missing Dolby Audio Encoder." I get the same message when I try to import .ac3 files into the updated Audition program.

Adobe Creative Cloud has moved to native Operating System (OS) support for Dolby Digital decoding (reading Dolby files) and is no longer providing support for encoding (writing) Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus sound formats in the current and future releases of Creative Cloud.

I would agree that this should have been made more obvious. But at the same time, professionals should know enough not to test out new versions of software on a production machine in the middle of a project.

I have been using premiere elements for years. I finally decided to upgrade to premiere pro 2017 cc on a trial basis.I learned the interface for the most part in one long day and loved it made my workflow and quality of projects great. I did a project the next day utilizing the multi cam edit and keying effects WORKED GREAT on my .mts and .mov files. Well the next day it wanted me to upgrade, not being that familiar to pro I performed the upgrade. Now cant import any audio files from my .mts videos. I rolled back to pro 2017 and get the same error. I tried all the solutions from this page and others to no avail. Called support after waiting for 20 minutes and explaining my problem they said they will call me back in a half hour. YA RIGHT. well of course they never called back and I'm glad I have not invested in the cc monthly payments. I'm really disappointed that this happened as I was planning on ramping up my video projects looking forward to working in premiere pro. Sorry for babbling just wanted to get that off my chest. P.S. Had to purchase new version of Photoshop because my version did not support the raw .NEF files from my new Nikon THAT'S RIDICULOUS.

UPDATE: I found a solution that works great for me. I took all my project .mts files and batched them thru Wondershare video converter.I converted them to .mov and all works well with good audio import. To batch 12 small .mts clip took about 12 seconds so not so much a big deal until Adobe can rectify the problem. Thanks Roy

So you are saying there is no way to fix this and I cannot edit my footage and need to buy a different camera? Are you serious? How can the company totally screw their customers? Tell me how I finish this project by Monday without audio. This is insane and a crime
