Hi There, I'm trying to set up a different front page layout for different users eg a stripped down front page to deliver very specific learning to short term contractors. The usual create learning plan, search course options, etc just confuse the page. Totara's been in place in the organisation for a number of years and there has been an external user front page set up that is applied by a custom on/off field in the user's profile, but I can't see how it's been done and there's no real inhouse knowledge at the moment.
The problem is I want the custom page to apply based on organisation or role information that is part of the HR import. The current flag has to be done manually for individuals or via a bulk import for multiple staff. I've tried looking at front page settings, permissions, assigning roles, etc
Thanks for the speedy response Craig, just what I want to do but unfortunately forgot to mention that we're currently on 2.4 but looking to go to 2.9 some time next year. Is there an easy way to do this in 2.4 with admin configuration or is more 'back end' stuff..
We didn't do that based on organization but on audiences. Once you have synchronized your authenticated users, you can create audiences based on the contractors and employees common criteria, create menue items with custom rules for access - at least 2.6 and higher :-)
Sorry I missed your question - it is possible to make blocks visible to specified roles so you could customise the frontpage appearance by role. I can't think of a way to assign a role based on a field value in 2.4 - in later versions there is an assign role available for audiences.
