Alsodiscoverd online that there are many Xperia users have the same issue, it's ashame the experia product still has the same software issue for years, icl XZ from 2017 and Sony still doesn't has the clears solution for this error in their site.
got some serious issue...xperia zr keeps on rebooting..I am experiencing same kind of trouble in my xperia zr. Tried to repair with pc companion but no use. The battery drains in seconds when i try to switch on. I cant charge it bcz the battery goes 90-2% in 2 seconds .
I tried to repair my smartphone with PC Companion and the update failed like expected. Happens nearly every time with sony smartphone. Now i'm not able to start my device and can't attempt an other repair cuz it's saying that the device is locked. But i cannot unlock it, cuz it won't start. Can i throw the smartphone in the trash? Or is there any way to fix it?Great how adding pictures works here! *facepalm*
I'm sorry to hear that, does the phone charge at all? if it does then let it charge for 1-2 hours, make sure to use a wall charger not a computer > then do not try to turn it on, open Xperia Companion > follow the repair steps and see if that does it
The phone was/is fully charged. But i have no access to the phone, it's saying "Its' locked!" I needed to click on "allow data transfer" on my phone to connect it with companion. But now i'm not able to do that, because it's not starting due to the failed repair.
if you repaired the phone with Xperia Companion, all your data its gone, if you only updated through Xperia Companion the data should be there, BUT, since it wasn't installed properly you will have to repeat the update/repair process, just keep the phone off and follow the steps
A couple of times I've ben asked by the local Sony Support (Malaysia) to run the 'repair phone' on PC Companion.Every time it takes me about 6 hours+++ before the whole process is finished, that not included back-up, re-installing apps and up-dates. I'm runing win 10, 1M fix internet line. Last comment about this from Support was: 'We are concern on the amount of hours your phone needed to do a software update. Please assist to check whether you have disable your FireWall and update your JAVA version. If both you have before doing a software repair, please assist us to provide us with the pc companion logs.
Right click on the pc companion notification icon on the task panel on the timing/ calender of your computer > about Sony pc companion > Click here to dump logs on desktop.'
That speed is unfortunately what is the maximum offered by the local telcos.Does not make it better that they even 'throttle' the download giving the max effective downloadspeed obtainable to be about 180Kbits. WIN up-dates , security software etc seems to run at max speed, but the SONY download goes with the same speed as the rest which means anywhere between 180 - 0 Kbits.
I'm not expecting a 'solution' to shorten it, more of a'poll' to find out actual time people needs to perform this operation in different parts of the world. If the PC Companion was at all time 'up-dated' it would quietly download files needed and install, and not doing it only when phone is hooked up? If the phone is 'registered' by PC Companion first time hooked up, should not be a problem to get the correct files downloaded and up-dated?
Firmware file size is about 1.3GB, on my connection here this will take 15 minutes to download, on your connection it would take up to 2.5 hours to download it only. Add preparation, transfer to phone, and installation times and it will sound logic.
Sony's Xperia Companion is a useful and official tool for Sony cell phones which provides access to many useful tools. The main layout of the application gives quick access to tools such as software update, updating the firmware on the device; software repair which can help resolve bricking issues by reinstalling firmware; backup and restore tools which can help prevent data loss and file transfer for sharing files between your PC and phone.Streamlined interface to manage your deviceAs with most modern official tools by handset manufacturers, Xperia Companion is rather easy to use and messing things up can be difficult. I have a Xperia m2 dual and recently I have faced the boot screen loop problem for that I am trying to repair my software using Xperia companion but after selecting software repair it gets stuck at initializing screen I have been waiting for more than an hour to process get started but this is not working also my internet speed is 1mbps which is stable connection ...pls help
I have searched other threads on Sony forums as well also I have searched for youtube videos but no progress is seen so far
I recommend that you make sure that your firewall or anti-virus software isn't blocking Xperia Companion from accessing the internet. If you disable your firewall and/or anti-virus I also recommend that you reboot your PC before attempting the software repair again.
I then went to Xperia companion and chose to software repair my phone to see if this would fix the issue. While doing this this morning, the companion threw up an error EU_2005 and when i try to restart my phone it just goes iunto boot loops. I think this may have something to do with flashing as when i try to connect my phone to the laptop, it does not recognise it now.
Hi @DavidCullen, so sorry to hear that.
My recommendation would be to try performing the software repair using Xperia Companion again, as it seems software related since the previous repair rendered an error. Could you start anew by first uninstalling Xperia Companion, download and install it again and then try performing the repair? The device needs to be turned off for this, so first force a shutdown by pressing and holding the power- and volume up button simultaneously until it vibrates 3 times.
I found another forum user which managed to resolve this by performing similar steps, here's his post:

Also, try removing any SIM- and SD cards prior to repairing again.
Let me know how it went!
Happy to hear that you managed to get it running!
Feel free to find an appropriate thread (or create a new one if there's no relevant) for the other behaviour and we can have a look at it too!
Thank you so much for the article in the March Access World entitled "You Get to Choose." I had already purchased an LG VX 4500 cell phone from Verizon Wireless back in September of 2004. The customer service representative at Verizon was very helpful when I explained that I was visually impaired and that I would need a phone that supported voice access. He also sold me the Mobile Office Kit which consists of software called Quick Link Mobile Phone Book, a USB cable, and some other software. This allows someone to manage their phone book on their PC and transfer it to the phone. This makes the phone extremely useful for the blind. I was able to use JAWS and ZoomText to input my phone directory into the QuickLink Mobile Phone Book and then write the entries to the phone. The mobile office kit costs $50.00 and is well worth it.
