Just updated to Payara 184 and noticed that https connections broke. Searched around and noticed that [PAYARA-3196] – Grizzly NPN Fails for JDK 8.192 mentioned requiring going to JDK Update 192. Maybe it should be noted that Payara now requires JDK 8.192 in the release notes and documentation. If that is indeed true. Hope this can help save someone else some time looking for why it stopped working.

Thanks

Hi Joshua,

Payara 5.184 DOES NOT require JDK 8u192 in order to run properly.

- If you start from a fresh download, it runs on any version of JDK 8
- If you use a domain from an older version, then you need to change the Grizzly version used (through domain.xml or asadmin command)

So there are multiple options so that you are not required to update to this JDK version.

Our customers have a detailed description of this matter through the KnowledgeBase articles.

Hi Joshua,

We're going to update the release notes here with more info, please be patient: https://docs.payara.fish/release-notes/release-notes-184.html

For now, this is the change required in your older domain.xml to make 5.184 work with any JDK version: https://github.com/payara/Payara/pull/3414/files#diff-106a22dc9db673bf7b67c76cf69914aaR256

All the best,
Ondro

Thanks for the information, I updated to JDK 192 so it's not a problem. I was just wondering if that was indeed the case, thanks for the clarification that with some edits people can still use older versions of the JDK.
