"development" is the name of the Data Grid Group. This is the default value for all domains, including the "production" domain. The reason is that in production, it's a good practice to change the name to a custom value so that your production Data Grid doesn't interfere with other Data Grids on the same network. This may easily happen if 2 different Data Grids share the same joining configuration. The most obvious example is if 2 Data Grids use the Multicast Joiner, which discovers all instances on the network. For more docs, see
