OpenTracing example

Hi All.

I am looking for a example on how to enable & use MicroProfile OpenTracing in Payara-micro either with Zipkin or Jaeger.

Any pointers ?

Hi Phillip,

There are plans to support external mechanisms like Zipkin with MP OpenTracing but in version 5.182 Payara Micro only supports internal Request Tracing service as a backend for OpenTracing: https://docs.payara.fish/documentation/microprofile/opentracing.html

The Payara Request Tracing service can be configured to send the tracing data via many different notifiers, including a CDI Event bus notifier that can be used to process the info with any custom code in a form of RequestTracingNotificationData class, e.g. to forward the data to Zipkin.
