3. OUR RESCUE NOTES & CRUELTY CASES:

Since PAWS operates in vast geographical reaches of Dombivali Kalyan Municipal Corporation, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, Ambernath Muncipal Council, Kulgaon-Badlapur Municipal Council, Murbad suburbs of Thane district areas, our team is constantly busy handling different type of rescue calls each month.

# This month, PAWS Team attended a total of 98 rescue calls, including 13 Pups, 64 Dogs & 19 Cats. These rescued animals were sent to PAWS Murbad Rescue Centre for hospitalization according to type injuries / diseases cases received by PAWS, and were administered by Dr. Salvi (Murbad AH Dept.).

# PAWS office was busy handling a total of 14 birds cases this month with due intimation to Kalyan forest department like.

# 78 strays were given vaccinations this month of OCTOBER 2020.

# Total reach to animals this month is 286 .

6. MONTHLY METROPOLITAN VACCINATION DRIVES FOR STRAYS:

Team PAWS is always forefront and proactive with local animal activists in making the city Rabies-Free. We conduct multiple anti- rabies drives every month.

# FREE Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive conducted in the month of NOVEMBER is as follows:

In this month 78 dogs & cats were vaccinated by Team PAWS

7. MURBAD RESCUE CENTRE:

PAWS started its own Rescue Centre spread over 1 acre at Crystal Homes Premises in Murbad since November 2010. The land was gifted by Hon. Minister Smt. Maneka Gandhi. We treat various injured animals, rescued animals found homes.

In February 2020, Murbad Centre Celebrated 9 years of successful running.

## Infrastructure Updates:

* In Year 2017-18, with help from House of Anita Dongre Ltd, PAWS Started renovation.

In phase 1, we are built new Operation Theatre. New Terrace also made, new toilet made.

* In April 2015 we constructed a new enclosure for crippled animals as an addition to our Murbad Shelter.

* In financial year 2013-14, we have installed following things

New Grills & Sheds, Solar Street Lights 2 Nos., 750 Liters Water Tank Installation, Carpet for Accident Recovery Ward.

* In the financial year 2012-13, we have installed following things:

OPD Room Renewal, Distemper Ward Making, Accident Recovery Ward Making

* In financial year 2010-11, we built kennels & basic infrastructure.

## Treatments:

In November 2020 month PAWS Murbad Rescue Centre received & treated following numbers of cases:

Dogs – 59

Cats – 1

Pups – 6

We also look after many residential animals in Centre

Resident Animals Total – 19

Dogs – 15

Pup – 01

Cats - 03

Kittens - 00

Cattle / Calf – 00

Breed Pets – 00

Total Animals received @ Centre in this month - Resident + Patient = 77

## Our Monthly Urgent Needs:

We started using the place in November 2010. Our Staff & Security salary goes up to 125,000/- each month & total cost of running services for a month goes up to 2,25,000/- which including hospital medicines, cleaning material, animals’ food etc. It is hard task for us to collect this much money every month, but we do our best & gather the money required for our rescue operations. But we really cannot spare a single rupee for repairs & development work. The Rescue Centre in desperate need of makeover & we need a minimum of 25,00,000/- to get it built in proper shape with the required facilities.

9. FUNDRAISING & DONATIONS:

Various NGO's are fighting on a day-to-day basis on the streets to rescue animals, look after them, try and give them a better life than the streets’ - Hunger, Cold, Heat & struggle for survival. This made us stop and think for a moment...we decided to takeup the cause at a larger scale & started PAWS. We face thousands of hurdles each year, with compassion under the PAWS Banner. People assume that NGOs’ must provide on-lip-call service, free service, and round-the-clock service anytime there is an emergency with an animal on street, highway & so on...
However, very few think about the what goes behind providing these services; handling daily help lines, rescue calls, wildlife rehab, services on time, staff management, getting resources like food, medicines, money etc. But some kind-hearted people think beyond an injured animal on street.

10. Covid-19 Response

Neither locked nor down for animals that need our help the most when rest of world is in lockdown

PAWS understood and felt the unattended animals would need maximum care when there would be very few hands to be on their side.

PAWS arranged feeding of strays during the lockdown period and personally monitored it.

Distribution of grocery & food grains to shelter staff and immediate surrounding villages

Distribution of dog biscuits and other food for nearby animals

Supply of dog/cat food to farmhouse and bungalows in nearby rural area

Rescue & timely hospitalisation of distressed animals

Assisting feeders & pet owners in resolving issues with their respective residential societies

Arranging the timely burials of lost lives of stray animals

13. SOCIETY PET DOG / STRAY FEEDING / TREE CUTTING CASES:

In this financial year, we @ PAWS received many complaints on stray feeding issues. PAWS immediately sent notices to the concerned, got forms filled from animal volunteer’s on feeder cards and provided them with law copies & posters as well.

# paws sent a stern notice to PAWS office issued a Stern notice to the Shri Shanti Niketan CHS, kharghar who were not letting dog to take shelter in the society premises & watchman of society beating dogs.

# PAWS office issued another stern notice to the managing committee of Vakratunda CHS, Malvani, Malad, who were harassing kittens born in society premises.
