Danny Ray Thomas passed away peacefully with the comfort of his family by his side on February 3, 2026.

 

Born in Rock Hill, SC on October 23, 1962.  He was preceded in death by his parents Harold L. Thomas and Fleeta C. Lewis.

 

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Peggy N. Thomas, daughter Ashley Wheeler and husband Joey,  daughter Courtney Pinson and husband Danny, and son Blake J. Thomas. Six grandchildren – Jonathan, Brooklyn, Matthew, Ethan, Jordan, and Airielle.  And one great grandchild Connor, two sisters and a loving square dancing family.

 

Danny loved his family deeply.  He loved being outside,  gardening, and his backyard birds. He loved Christmas, his favorite time of year.  He enjoyed spending lots of time with his beautifully magnificent Christmas Village and took much pride in his display.

 

Danny was an active, fun, and energetic Western Style Square Caller for many years.  It was his passion.  He loved his square dance family near and far.  He was President of the South Carolina Callers Association, Chairman of the South Carolina Square & Round Dance Convention Committee, member of the North Carolina Callers Association, and a Hall of Fame Member of the Metrolina Callers Association.  He was club caller and founding member of the Carolina Promenaders in Fort Mill, SC and club caller of the Belles & Beaus of Matthews, NC. He loved visiting other clubs and conventions with his wife Peggy, sharing smiles and lots fun dancing with all he met along the way.  Danny was also a retired commercial dry-wall mechanic where he enjoyed the art of building and meeting lots of wonderful people.

 

A celebration of life will be held Thursday February 12th at Greene’s Funeral Home Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC.  Visitation will be at 1:00 and Service at 2:00.  There will be a private burial for the immediate family following the service.
