Well, we finally got some snow here in central Iowa, and it's nice to
have things looking and feeling a bit more like winter. We will welcome
spring when it arrives, but for now the snow is beautiful.
BEYOND THE GRAINS
Many of our customers don't realize that in addition to the whole
grains, flours, and cereals we grow and grind, we also offer a variety
of healthy snacks, nuts, dried fruits, and other items. A few of the
best-selling products are listed on our website
(http://www.paulsgrains.com/snacks.htm), but we have quite a few other
things available as well. Stop by and check out our little shop on the
farm when you're passing through our area (call to make sure we're
home!) - or drop us a note and see if we have what you're looking for.
Chances are we do. :-)
WINTER SAVINGS
To increase awareness of our snack items, we're having a special winter
sale on Yogurt-Covered Almonds: a healthy and yummy treat for those
with a sweet tooth. Regularly $1.50 for a 0.3-pound bag, we've brought
the price down to $1.20/bag- a 20% savings. Buy more and save more -
get a pound or more and save 30% off the original price of $5.20/lb!
The sale price will be on only while supplies last, so hurry!
HUNGRY?
We recently discovered a recipe so easy and so delicious that it became
an instant family favorite. We're sure you'll like it, too! It's
perfect to serve up with a kettle of hot soup or an Italian dish...and
the cinnamon variation is a wonderful addition to breakfast on a chilly
morning. Leftovers are yummy, too!

**Quick and Easy Breadsticks**
3 c. flour (1 c. whole wheat and 2 c. unbleached white flour is a good
combination - find both on our website)
1 tsp. salt (we always use RealSalt, for which we are distributors)
1 Tb. baking powder
3/4-1 c. milk
1/2 stick butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 425. Place butter and a little oil in 9x13 pan and put
in oven so butter melts as the oven heats up. Be careful not to let it
burn!
Stir dry ingredients together, and gradually add milk, stirring until
dough forms and leaves sides of bowl. We don't bother to actually
measure out the milk - just add it gradually until there's enough.
Knead 5-6 times in bowl; place on floured countertop and roll out into
9x13" rectangle.
Lay dough in preheated 9x13" pan, atop the melted butter/oil. Cut into
1/2" strips. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes.
Makes: Just enough to feed a hungry family of 7. :-)
**Variations:
Garlic Breadsticks
Add 1 tsp. garlic powder and 1 Tb. parsley flakes to the dough. Then,
sprinkle 1/2 tsp. garlic powder and a little salt in the melted butter
before placing dough in the pan. Can sprinkle breadsticks with parmesan
cheese before baking.
Cinnamon Breadsticks
Spread 1/4 c. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon (mixed together) on top of
breadsticks before baking. Tastes like cinnamon rolls. Store leftovers
in an airtight container and reheat in oven before serving.

Enjoy! And we'll look forward to hearing from you sometime. :-)
God bless,
