Dear All
I was sorry to hear the sad news that

Fr Rui de Menezes sj passed away early this morning after battling with cancer since the last 4 months or so.
Fr Rui, when in school, had those  innocent altar boy looks and was popular with both fellow students and all the school gurus. He belonged to the 1957 batch and was voted the 'Best Boy' of that year. He was a very gifted person, knew about 15 Indian and international languages and was an author of 9 Books mostly on Israel & the Jews. He was widely travelled and also posted on assignments in Israel, Europe and Brazil. He had retired recently and was posted at the Jesuit House in Belgaum where he was diagonized with 'C' which he fought bravely.
I had met him in Mumbai about a year ago when he launched his 9th Book and he looked quite hale & hearty and was also his usual witty self.
The Jesuit fathers have lost a very learned & much admired man who was able to touch the lives of all those whom he came into contact with. I am sure they will have a special service to celebrate his life and the rich legacy he has left behind.  Paulites in Belgaum wanting to pay their tributes and attend the funeral service can contact the school.
May his sweet should rest in Peace.
George J Coelho (1954)
