Job Title: MYSQL DBA
Location: New York, NY  (Hybrid Role)—Please look for local profiles., locals
Job Type: Long Term Contract role.
Exp Level: Min 12 Years
 
Job Description:

• Designs and maintains SQL queries and routines.
• Collaborates with team members and business partners in defining, designing, developing and implementing technology solutions to improve business functions.
• Analyzes user requirements and translates into database requirements and implements in database code.

 
Skill/Experience/Education:

• Mandatory Skills 10 years relevant client experience in similar technology (does not include training period) with at least 2 years on-site in similar technology and domain - Min Education - Bachelors degree in technology

 
Must Have Skills:

• (MYSQL Query)--Ability to write complex MySQL queries + stored procedures
• MYSQL Administration-Knowledge of MySQL tools - especially those that can be used to backup/restore databases.

 
Key Responsibilities:

• Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases. Ensure high availability and performance of databases in production and development environments.
• Backup & Recovery: Utilize MySQL tools for regular database backups and restoration. Implement and manage backup schedules and procedures, ensuring the integrity of backup data.
• Query Optimization: Write complex MySQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for efficient data retrieval. Analyze and optimize queries to improve performance and minimize resource consumption.
• Database Security: Implement and manage database security policies, including user access control, encryption, and auditing.
• Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor database performance, optimize queries, indexes, and overall database configuration to enhance system performance.
• Troubleshooting: Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruptions.
• Replication & Clustering: Set up and maintain MySQL replication and clustering configurations to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
• Upgrade & Patching: Plan and execute MySQL database version upgrades, patches, and maintenance to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for database environments, backup procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• MySQL Query Expertise: Strong ability to write complex SQL queries, optimize query performance, and create stored procedures, triggers, and views to handle business logic and reporting requirements.
• MySQL Administration: In-depth knowledge of MySQL database architecture, tools, and techniques. Experience with tools such as mysqldump, MySQL Enterprise Backup, Percona XtraBackup, etc., for database backup and restore operations.
• Backup & Restore Techniques: Extensive experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and high availability setups.
• Database Performance Tuning: Knowledge of indexing, query optimization, and techniques for ensuring optimal database performance and resource management.
• Replication & Clustering: Experience in configuring and managing MySQL replication (master-slave, master-master) and clustering solutions (such as MySQL NDB or Galera Cluster).
• Operating System Knowledge: Strong experience working with Linux/Unix environments and familiarity with shell scripting.
• Security Practices: Knowledge of MySQL security best practices including user authentication, roles, and privileges management.
