Today is the 50th anniversary of the Birmingham Alabama Church Bombing. The murder of these four children happened shortly after the March on Washington. The attached image of the wood sculpture represented this incident in my recent show Recapitulation: Assassin Series.
The last Klan member that was part of this bombing was not convicted until 2002.

So many Americans don't know about this significant tragedy in American history. This event was the catalyst for legislation that helped move the civil rights movement forward.

The George Santayana quote from his book Reason in Common Sense sums it up.
"Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it," Unfortunately we've repeated this incident in many other forms and variations - over and over again.
