I am having the same issue. I am using Enscape within REVIT and many of the entourage and furniture come in FBX form. I have to go through 3DS due to REVIT not importing FBX, I can get the geometry into REVIT no prob, just frustrating I can't get the materials to come with the models.
Hello everyone. I am Tom, a design teacher in Hanover County, Virginia. My computer lab recently has been updated and so I am learning/playing with the new computers to see how well they work with Revit, Inventor, Maya and various other programs.
One aspect that my students and I have been using for years is the Raytracing tool for Revit. This create awesome renders for my students who display their work on their own portfolio websites. However, I noticed that when I attempted to utilize this feature, it was not available. After reading many... many posts about this, I decided to look for dedicated graphics card (since these computers are AMD and do not have discrete). I bought a PYN K620 Graphics Card Quadro for this job and popped it in my main computer station (along with an addition 8gb RAM). Once again, the raytracer is no where to be seen.
I set up the file in Rhino to have each material type on its own layer with different layer colours and exported this as Rhino 2.0 file. It imports to Revit perfectly fine with different colours for different materials.
Are you using same geometry as few months ago?
If is the same geometry, have you scaled that geometry? If you scale it up without scaling the tolerance it may become invalid if you modify it in Rhino.

I'm writing a Macro in Revit with C# for rotate multiple selected elements at a time. But I'm getting this error every time I try to run it:"System.NullReferenceException: Object Reference Not Set to an instance of an object".I don't know why I get this error since there are no "null" references in my selection. Does anybody know what is happening? This is the code snippet:
Attached is the document Tekla Structural Designer Integrator - Revit Guidance.pdf
These guidance notes have been developed to give practical advice to users of Autodesk Revit wishing to integrate models between Autodesk Revit and our own Tekla Structural Designer software.
This document largely deals with the subjects of model connectivity and object mapping as these are the most important considerations when building models within Autodesk Revit. Several sections relating to important information and advanced subjects are also contained.
V-Ray for Revit architectural rendering software is renowned for its photorealistic quality. Deep integration ensures that you can work without leaving Revit and innovative tools enable advanced visualization techniques without altering your original BIM data. From early mock-ups to final design, Chaos V-Ray has all the tools you need to visualize your Revit projects.
You can now transfer your real-time Enscape materials and 3D assets to V-Ray and take them to the highest level of photorealism. Unify your visualization workflow and collaborate with your design team like never before.
V-Ray 6 for Revit is the most comprehensive rendering toolset for photorealistic rendering in Revit. As well as handling every task requiring physically correct lighting and materials, V-Ray now gives you even more. Easily create cloudy skies and animate beautiful timelapses. Place decals without limitations. V-Ray 6 boosts team collaboration by letting you bring Enscape data inside V-Ray, and review renders on Chaos Cloud.
A basic problem when exporting energy models from Revit is that, the models is typical not that good. In many cases there is a lot of smal air gabs and other strange things in the export. In fact this is also a issue when running energy simulations within Revit with GBS.
Why would people try to export and import models in GH with all properties? Knowing the settings in Revit is really limited. Only the constructions could be nice to have in the import to Honeybee, or?
I just remembered a other crazy way of creating a better energy model based on Rooms. CASE have a free plugin for Revit that creates 3D Mass from Rooms. This method dont create air gabs, the downside is - no windows, but maybe this could be added with some Dynamo nodes !?!
The idea came to me during breakfast the day after Matt Jezyck announced the Hackathon. I asked my friends Andreas Dieckmann and Julien Benoit what they thought about it, and they immediately got on board. When Andreas and I arrived in Vegas, we hooked up with Ian Siegel, and got to work. In short, we have produced 5 Dynamo Custom Nodes that can animate;
H2X Sync is an extension of H2X in Revit that allows H2X users to import their projects into Revit. This extension allows you to import pipes, fittings and valves into Revit with the correct Revit family mappings.
KLH Engineers is continually leveraging its experience in machine learning, along with its ever-growing internal database, to further automate the design of building systems and reduce waste so the benefit can be felt by all of its partners and clients.
For a while, I have been using SketchUp and OpenStudio together for building energy modelling. However, I want to explore the capabilities of building energy modelling with the combination of Revit and OpenStudio. May I know if it is as efficient as SketchUp-OpenStudio? Please let me know the pros and cons while choosing Revit-OpenStudio over SketchUp-OpenStudio for building energy modelling. Also, is there is any compatibility issues arising from use of latest versions of Revit and OpenStudio?
Despite the possibility of creating complex geometry in Rhino or logic-driven forms with Grasshopper or Dynamo, the vast majority of designers in corporate architecture firms use SketchUp for 3D modeling and visualization. A common request is for someone to "convert" a SketchUp model to Revit but by no means is this an easy task.
I was recently asked if there is a quick way to transfer a custom designed furniture item that had been modeled in SketchUp to Revit for documentation purposes. I discovered the SketchUp to Dynamo package created by Maximilian Thumfart and built a tool that converts SketchUp geometry to a new Revit Furniture family as a freeform object. This allows you to quickly populate Revit with elements from SketchUp and annotate.
Autodesk is happy to announce the release of the McNeel Rhino Connector into Public Beta. The Rhino Connector, which is based on Autodesk Forge, enables you to share geometry and properties with other connected Autodesk and third-party applications.
You might consider using this to distribute and store different kinds of files in your Revit construction project. Rhino files along with additional formats required for a significant project. Along with the geometry, parameters are also kept in and transferred using Rhino files.
Users of design software often manage multiple programs, some of which are outside of their area of expertise or are intended for broad use, such as those made by Microsoft. (Autodesk is able to communicate with Microsoft Power Automate.)
An interesting project came across my COVID 19 lockdown work-from-home desk about a month ago. I had to translate a client's APAC (Asia Pacific region) sample drawings from Swedish to English. They were of an office building with seven levels. (Architectural, Structural and MEP plans, with a primary focus on Level 2.) I think I was a little naive to think with a translation guide I could smash this out in no time.
My first task was to update all the Room Names on all the floor plans for the entire building, which was an easy task with Ideate BIMLink. For example, I had to convert KONFERNSRUM to CONFERENCE ROOM. Ideate BIMLink allowed me to filter Revit's Categories, including Rooms, to pre-made Excel export configurations that are easy to tweak.
In this project, I did have a little play with Sorting. My thinking was that it would be easier for me to find problem areas if my data dump was in the same order as my Project Browser. I typically sort Views by Associated Level. I did blog post about that some time ago; here's a link.
In summary, with Ideate BIMLink, I was able to knock out the project so much quicker than if I had used any of the methods I mentioned at the start of this post. Globally as regions reopen and thinking to when we are all back in the office again, these are tools that you can put in the hands the masses and know with confidence that they are stable, quick to learn, and can be easily edited to suit different needs. With the AEC industry improving due to BIM and its adoption becoming more the norm every day, look for tools that make data management easier.
This connection is possible with the VisualARQ Grasshopper components, which let you retrieve the geometry and data of VisualARQ objects and connect them with the Revit components, (available in Grasshopper with the Rhino.Inside tool), and thus regenerate all geometry and data live in Revit, as native Revit Furniture object types.
The release of Revit 2023 delivered documentation workflows, providing productivity, efficiency, and interoperability enhancements that help individual users and project teams produce better design deliverables, faster, and with less re-work and repetition. We recently launched a new Hub for Revit where customers can take a deeper dive into all the features and innovations delivered in Revit since 2019.
