Good evening. I received news today that former band booster Janice Buchanan passed away yesterday at her home. Janice and her husband, Randy, were very involved as band boosters and she was a great person. Both of them dedicated so much to our band program and their work is a reason we are were we are today.
On a personal note, I see the relationships that our boosters have now with many of our students. Janice was like that to so many students including myself when I was a student at Freedom. She was a really great lady and there are not enough good things to say about her. Janice was a true "Band Mom".
Please keep her husband, Randy, children David and Jeff, and the rest of the family in your thoughts and prayers. The funeral will be at 11:00am on Friday morning at Zion Baptist Church. Receiving will take place at Zion Baptist Church on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
