What are the Chances? The Inhabitants of Side 113

The writing really reminds me of hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy!

Also, the Die-caster is quite cruel. He's killed nearly everyone in
Dice-verse, and seemingly for some unknown reason. I can't exactly say
that their destinies are in good hands; maybe it's time for the
scientist to worship another deity rather than sticking with
unquestioning faithfulness. So the moral of the story is: If you want
something, pray at every shrine, temple or church (catholic and
protestant) until you get results!

I didn't know you read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! That's one of
my favorite books. It occupies a highly coveted section of my
bookshelf.

I wrote this story after reading about the "scientific proofs" about
God. There were a lot of different proofs, but the ones that
especially irritated me were the ones which relied upon "the very very
small chances that the universe would sustain life".

So the point of the story was that the Diecaster was not good, nor
cruel, .. but just indifferent. No matter which side Dice-verse lands
face-up on, the inhabitants of that Side will naturally think it's a
miracle (because the chances are so very very small), when in fact,
the Die could care less about how it lands.

Hey!
I loved how you used the dice metaphor in such a literal sense. It was
a very cute story describing one of religion's most "persuasive"
arguments for the existence of an omniscient, omnipotent deity. And
really, some people don't realize how silly of an argument it is until
someone, like you, presents it in such a literal, yet metaphoric,
story.
YAY! I enjoyed it. I personally also enjoy writing, but perhaps not
essays like yourself. I'm more of the...fiction...and poetry...type
writer, hahaha.
Thanks for sharing!

Hey Wesley!
Thanks for the kind words. I'm happy that you got the underlying
message of that story. I was afraid that the message might have been
lost due to ending the story on such a happy note.
It's nice to hear from someone that also enjoys writing. Do you have a
webpage with your writing on it yet?

Have you seen Zeitgeist? (http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/) Watch the
first part of the movie (not the addendum), the rest (in my opinion)
is not worth your time...

It talks of the origins of God, Jesus as well as its similarities to
other religions.

That's interesting. I haven't heard of it before. ... though it sounds
like one of those artsy European flicks. I'll take a look.
How did you find it anyway?

Hi Patrick!

Hahaha...I'll admit, I actually thought you were trying to support the
existence of a deity when I finished reading. But then it didn't sit
right with me. I thought, wait a second...Patrick's too logical of a
person to think something like THAT. Which is when I realized you were
satirizing that particular argument. I think the message could come
out even stronger if you made the ending more sarcastic, but that's
just my opinion. I'm also not quite sure how you'd do that considering
it's pretty sarcastic already (took me a second reading to pick it
up).

As for the webpage...for lack of better words "hells no", hahaha. I
may share an enjoyment of writing, but unfortunately, I do not share
the same talent for webpage design and such. Nor do I particularly
enjoy the thought of the world having access too the fruits of my
imagination...

Don't worry Wesley. I don't think personal websites are that popular,
but something about Patrick's site keeps me coming back... So good job
Patrick :)

Patrick, I don't know if Zeitgeist is made by Europeans. But it mainly
talks about conspiracy theories, and 3 main methods to control people
- one of which is religion. I don't remember how I found this,
probably word of mouth...

Mmm. Sarcasm is not a skill that I practiced often, so I need some
work on that. =) Though perhaps it'd be better to leave it as it is.
Then people that get it will appreciate the article, and it saves me
from being attacked by the people that don't.

You don't like giving the world access to your imagination? Hmm. Why
not? What do you imagine that you wouldn't like other people to read
about? =P

Thanks for the nice comments Patrick. =) Mmmm I love conspiracy
theories! They're all so interesting. I find them to be perfectly
logical .. just not plausible ... for the sole reason that I don't
think people are smart enough to pull most of them off.
