Spellcraft and indepently researched spells

How does Spellcraft work in regards to an independently researched new spell? Does a character with Spellcraft autofail, or does he learn the spell properties as normal?

Well, that goes on the "GM's Descretion" rule. If it's a completely original spell, not found on any other book or material, i suggest a -5 penalty, with success meaning that they recognize the properties, not the spell.
