Hello, Folks.

I have 2 groups on the go at the moment. Both at around the same character levels.

I have had an idea where I set them both on the same quest, starting from different points of the world that I created.
The idea is that there is one goal, and only one team may succeed. So to start they will have their own adventure to reach the goal, facing different foes and challenges, but ultimately their characters will arrive at the location of the goal at around the same time and, ultimately, have to fight to the death.

I'd be playing their separate adventures independently, but when they reach the goal, I will arrange a big group game where all of the players are present and compete group vs. group.

Has anybody else done something similar?
what pitfalls did you come across by doing this?
have you got any interesting stories about this kind of game?

let me know.

That's a nice idea. Haven't tried something like that YET, but we have a similar idea on the drafting proccess.
The main pitfall with this, is that you might end up with a last man standing. If the battle goes all the way lethal, there is a big chance you'll end up with more dead characters on both sides, so the remaining characters might not even be enough to complete the quest!
Also, by pitting them against each other, although it's a nice twist, especially if you've built it in both stories (clues are there, but they never noticed them), but, you might get complains from both teams, especially from the dead players.
A nice twist (but it's completely up to the PCs) it's if they join up forces and complete the quest together.

It requires a good setup, and be ready for anything the players think or throw at you (if it's either ideas or sharp things :P)
