Well, as I discovered tonight, running your own MapTool server can be quite challenging. Although I was able to start the server, other people weren't able to connect to it. I turned off my computer's firewall, though there may be something in my wireless router or cable modem doing something. Can anyone give me advice on how to set this up so other people can connect to me?

My semi-educated guess would be it's a port forwarding issue. Gotta access your router (192.168.1.1), figure out exactly what IP MapTool is using, and open a port (I generally use 51234) for that IP.

Use MapTool B87. Open a hole in your firewall to port 51234 and the
local static ip of your PC. To make a PC have a static IP, you need
to know what it's MAC address. After that, go to portforward.com and
see how to open the port for your router.

Okay, I think I turned on port forwarding on port 51234. If anyone could try and connect to the server PeterTest on MapTools over the next few minutes, I'd appreciate it.
