I guess we're all trying to DL the playest doc(s), cause I haven't been able to reach them for hours, and they finally redirected to a "test signal". :P

I hope they appreciate the "buzz" that they've stirred up. :)

*sigh* I've been trying since I saw the link. Then the site blew up.

Would it be against the rules to post the book if one of us gets it, since it is free?

I have the book, will I be making unhappy Paizo peeps if I shared it?

Paizo probably went to AWS and bumped up their server farm temporarily. :P

Site? Yes. It's the forums that are down right now.

For those who already got it, has anyone else noticed that the Slayer class has Sneak Attack twice with two conflicting entries?

Yeah, but the 3rd +3 levels matches the table.

Aye, it's just the fact that there's redundant text that doesn't mesh with itself. Minor thing that doesn't change the class.

Well, I can't say I have any complaints with them. I'm especially excited to see if I could get in a game or two with the Bloodrager before the playtest ends.

I'm only just starting my initial read through. But already I'd be very surprised to see any first level monks or rogues showing up in society while brawlers and investigators are available.

Quick thoughts:

Bloodrager clearly comes out as A++ ( Aberrant Enlarged Lunging (level 6) with 20 foot reach) and many of the bloodlines are quite good ( Arcane! ), and swashbuckler can be crazy dangerous but hilariously so. Swash also meshes nicely with either or Kitsune race/Dervish Dance feat. 15-20 crit range at level 5? Yes please. Warpriest of Zon Kuthon comes in as a nice build up for Holy Vindicator, with enhancement bonus to armor and vindicators shield charge. Darkness blessing makes rogues extremely viable again.

Hmm, I suspect that most of these 10 hybrids just might be different enough from both of their parent, Base/Alternate classes that no existing archetypes will be applicable for any of them.  That might be a good thing for a playtest.

Does anyone know for certain whether racial alternate Favored Class Bonuses for the Alternate Classes will be applicable, or whether we'll be strictly limited to the basic options of +1 skill point or +1 hit point?

Finally, the text I've read does NOT seem to indicate that feats that key on class abilities will be transferable.  For example, the text block for Raging Song does not seem to support the applicability of the Extra Performance feat to gain more rounds of Raging Song.  Should I be reading it more liberally?

The fact that Skalds start with 1 fewer round of Song than Bards do, and gain only 1 extra round per level compared to the 2 gained by bards probably means that the FULL Advanced Class Guide release will contain a Extra Raging Song feat, which will probably add LESS than 6 rounds of performance per day (3-5?) as well as all the other class ability-based feats.  Until then, we may not have any options to augment class abilities.  That's probably a good thing for assessing the viability of a class on its own.  At the same time, I can see how it might make testing these classes in PFS less attractive than testing them in home games.

Has that made a whit of difference in past playtests?

In all honesty, while I don't mind not having to multiclass anymore to play a specific character concept anymore, I can't help but feel that these new classes, while each amazing and appealing in their own ways, were made in an effort to cut down on multiclassing in general. And I'm not only talking about the fact that you can't multiclass with one of the parent classes. It's just not as viable. Perhaps when we see the archetypes that are released with the finished product... but these are pretty standalone. It's not a bad thing... just a shame.

Negative feedback is not welcome, but some of those classes are downright insultingly bad. So far only the shaman looks solid, Not surprising, since it's a cleric with extra bits bolted on.

Several of the classes are nice.

Also, Shaman apparently get access to 5th level spells before 4th level.  :P
