I need to purchase a WAP for a customer that has an existing wired network. Here is the configuration.
ATT DSL brings Internet into business WAN Port on DSL modem connects to Linksys router/switch/firewall POS system runs off of this network. There is a netgear hub or switch that is connected to Linksys switch
Customer wanted his Cisco E2000 switch/router/fw/wireless access point to provide wireless access to restaurant At one point I reset the E2000 and connected it to a spare port on the Linksys and we were able to connect wireless devices without a problem
As of today the e2000 is unable to get an IP address from the linksys router/switch/firewall. Wireless devices can connect to the SSID but since there is no IP address on it the laptops can not get to the Internet.
The E2000 is out of warranty as of Oct of 2011 so I can not get tech support for it.
I am looking for a device that is a WAP ONLY. I do not need a 2nd router/switch/firewall for the existing wired network.
I am going to suggest that they reboot everything in the morning before the business opens and see if that fixes the problem with the E2000 not getting an IP address.

There are cheap Asus routers out there that you can flash with DD-WRT or Tomato, so they can be set to AP only.
