Will we be getting e-mail notification of new helpdesk tickets for PATH since we moved to Desk.com?  That would be most awesome if we are.  That way I do not have to worry about logging on and checking the tickets.  I rarely remember to do this so that would be a helpful feature.

Thanks to Tina for all her hard work on this.  :)

We are working on that - or should I say I am trying to straighten it out. But yes, you should.

Michael - please give me a call about this - there are several issues of concern...

Call? Like talk on a phone? That is so... social!

I noticed that you do not like to answer your phone when it rings.  I bet you don't check your voice mail either.  LOL

Nope! Hate both of them.

And honestly, people think I am ignoring my phone when they have no idea how many meetings I am in. I do not answer phones in meetings with people - business or social - very rude. I also will ignore it when I am doing heads-down programming. I try not to let interruptions break my train of though.

And now that you opened that can of worms, I firmly believe that the current need for immediate gratification is counter productive. Why should I let every email, text message, chat request, tweet, and phone call disrupt my work and my productivity. Or even my relaxation time! I make my schedule - it is not made by everyone who has my contact information. That is the sure path to getting absolutely nothing done.

There, now I will get off my soapbox and return to the code I am beating my head against.

I believe that I accidentally opened that can of worms.  :(  I was just teasing you.

Nevertheless I am glad that you shared that with us.  Many years ago in some ancient, people communications workshop, I learned the following.

Different folks like to communicate in different ways.  I am sort of like you, in that, the telephone is not my communications tool of choice.  In my current position I am being forced to use it on a daily basis.  I would prefer that folks enter in a helpdesk ticket ,with the help desk, and then I get an e-mail on my smart phone, that I can be notified with.  Some folks prefer vocal communications, e-mail, personal conversations, smoke signals, car bombs, etc etc.  LOL

You seem to respond better to e-mail so that is typically what I do when I need to get your attention.  Most of the time you are pretty good about being responsive.  :)

Can this be moved to a side conversation, rather than a series of announcements to the entire group?

oooops.... my apologies, I guess our conversation sort of got side tracked....

Thank you, Nicolai - I was just going to ask the same thing. We need to reserve the path-volunteers emails for exclusively group concerns - otherwise, people will tune out the PATH emails altogether!
