All,

I am happy to announce that we have a new video which shows how
Maltego version 2 can be used with an internal MySQL database. For
this to work you'll need your own Transform Application Server (as I
am pretty sure nobody would want their DB credentials to be passed
along the Internet), and obviously your own Squid/MySQL servers. The
video shows how you can perform searches on Squid logs that have been
written to this DB. The configuration of the Squid installation used
in the video is modified to log all MIME headers and GET parameters -
this allows the tracking of users based on their cookies used with
Google as well as extracting the search terms used with Google. Of
course this is only scratching the surface of what can be done once
users are going via a proxy that's in your control...(the mind
boggles).

The video can be found at http://ctas.paterva.com/Maltego_Videos/Episode%204/

On other related Maltego news - we plan to be finished with a
community release soon - this release will be somewhat crippled (think
cannot save, cannot run transforms on multiple entities etc.) but
would not require any registration and should run 'out the box'. It is
rumored that this release will also be included in the official
BackTrack version 3 that should be released soon. The community
release should address the question of 'trail licenses' - as you'll
get a pretty good idea if Maltego will work for your organization
before buying a license. At the moment we are accepting requests for
time limited trail licenses. If you need one drop us a line at
mal...@paterva.com.

Other news is that features for Version 2.1 is pouring in. Of these
the most useful is the use of Unicode in search results - at the
moment this is not supported. More info as we have it.

Enjoy the week & good luck,
Roelof.
