Dear PatentLaw google group:
Before the PTO can decommission EFS-Web and Private PAIR, the PTO has to get clearance under the Paperwork Reduction Act and Executive Order 12866. I wrote a comment letter to OMB asking OMB to order PTO to stand down until they get the clearance (which they can't get until Patent Center is much more robust) The letter is here --

Dear Listmates:
Last ask for signatures for the letter re decommission of Private PAIR and EFS-Web. I will close this at about noon (eastern time) Sunday, and have the letter in the email box waiting for OMB folks first thing Monday.
Since Wednesday, I added two more bullet items at pages 10-12 about the new bugs reported in the last 48 hours. One more bug was reported this morning (PatentCenter balks at an ADS and gives the oh-so-helpful diagnostic "OK"). There's nothing more certain to trigger a software manager's concern than a new bug rate that's as fast as old ones are getting fixed! I'm not sure that matters at the PTO, but it'll matter at OMB.
