Before I make this opportunity public, I wanted to share this with the
team.

PATC is looking for a highly motivated volunteer with some managerial
experience to help run the production operation for the mapping
committee. This individual must possess excellent organizational
skills. The responsibilities would include:

• Schedule Creation
• Resource Allocation
• Quality Assurance
• Database Steward

The individual would take on the role of a Production Manager
assisting the Map Chairman with the generation of hard copy Map
Products. Interested individuals should send an email to:
ma...@patc.net

All-
Please take a moment and join me in welcoming Stephanie Cardenas
as the Mapping Committee’s new Production Manager. Stephanie has been
a member of the Mapping Committee for the past couple of years. She is
one of the 3 professional cartographers who assists me in digitizing
the clubs inventory of maps. Her background consists of managing the
production of the only known existing series of government produced
topographic maps (USGS no longer produces hard copy maps). She is
perhaps the best candidate for the position that this club could ask
for.

I created the position of Production Manager because I felt the
Mapping Committee is overburdened with all aspects of map production.
This includes, but not limited to: procurement of base layer data,
product creation, standard development, digitization of existing
stock, database management, quality assurance, resource allocation,
schedule management, modernization, volunteer administration, etc.

With the appointment of Stephanie as the Production Manager, we are
now aligned to create new maps that have been discussed for the past
few years. This includes Prince William Forest and Manassas National
Battlefield Park. In addition, I ask that Stephanie work closely with
Karen Brown (Marketing) to develop strategies that insure our maps are
the best selling maps available in our area.

Good move, Thom.  Your overall strategy for the maps committee seems to be paying off.
