All-
Effective Tuesday May 10th at the monthly council meeting, PATC will have a new Map Chairman to oversee the geospatial operations. Please join me and welcoming Brian Goudreau as the new chairman. Brian and I have worked in the same circles for close to 15 years. He is currently an employee with SAIC where he makes topographic maps. Before joining SAIC Brian was employed by Mapquest for many years in Pennsylvania. His skill set is a huge asset for PATC and a perfect fit for the position. Brian has some great ideas that align perfectly with PATC mission. One of the many is in regards to standardizing our maps. Not just here but along the entire AT.

Brian is aware of the many projects that are ongoing inside of the mapping committee. We discussed the generation of Map M (Manassass NBP) and Map P (Prince William Forest Park). We  discussed the inclusion of barcodes as well. Moreover the ongoing assault to collect GIS data for our trails and cadastral mapping of our lands.

I have decided to step aside and take more time to spend with family. I wanted to thank all of you for allowing me to serve as your chairman. It was an honor and a true privilege to work with so many dedicated folks as yourself. I will however not be going anywhere. I will still be a very active member of the committee where I shall help Brian and Chris Mangold as needed. In addition I still have 5 maps that have yet to be digitized.
