I admit it, even after a lot of super hero type help by others (TY. N9QNZ) I have been unsuccessful on getting PAT to kick my transceiver to transmit. Someone out there as done this I know your just lurking and wondering if I will ever figure it out. Be a hero, come on, help me figure this out, take a stand agains everything Windows and help me get it going.

I'm running MacOS v11.3 on an Intel MacBook Pro, PAT is loaded and can query the Icom IC-7000 for frequency information, band, mode and can set any of them as well. But I can't get PAT configured to transmit. I have a SignaLink connected to the 7000 and I use it daily on fldigi and WSJT-X so digital works with this setup.

I think the problem may be a version of PAT that doesn't include ax25 ... maybe?? I'm running PAT 0̷.10. 0̷.

Thoughts? Help please!

Hi Keith,

I was happy to help with the simpler issues I could handle.  Last night I dug into this latest issue (ax.25) and have come to the conclusion this is likely a brick wall on the Mac.  MacOS has no native ax.25 support and it appears that rebuilding PAT on a mac with ax.25 "can't" be done.

While I use a Mac daily, I use RPi for radio.  As a result, I'm on a learning curve regarding the Mac here.  But, last night I discovered that Direwolf runs on the Mac.  I wonder if this provides a solution?

So, I'll ask the Mac/Direwolf experts to please weigh in here and let us know if there is a way to get PAT/Direwolf working for Keith.

Hi Keith,

Indeed on the Winlink website, in the comparison overview they say indeed that pat only supports KISSTNC on Linux

KISS TNC support for low-cost TNCs and radios with built-in TNCs

I use my Mac all the time,  but I don't want it tethered to the radio so I run Pat on a raspberry pi (KM4ACK' Build-A-Pi) and use Safari on my Mac to connect to the pat http interface.  For security, I use an ssh tunnel.  Works great.  This is how Pat should be operated!
