Extracting LAT LONG data

Still a newbie to Winlink not to mention PAT-Winlink so this will probably wander around using all the wrong terminology. Plus I'm a Linux user (for over 20 years.)

The local ARES/RACES group is working on using Winlink. Bi-weekly mixed nets (Voice and Telnet). Our next portion includes getting LAT/LONG from messages and mapping it.

Is there something I've missed in the menu system for doing the data extraction? Or some way from the command line?

Hi Rod,

Not stupid at all. Funny thing is, I ran into the issue too, it was
right there the whole time, just kept over-looking it!

Once you have pat running, open the browser and log into your pat and it
will load the GUI for ya. Now just click on Action>Position . .

I haven't used it for a long time since I also have APRS running.

Thanks Jaye.

I found this also and just retried it. Gets 'my' LAT/LONG fine but I
need to extract the coords from several messages sent by others to fill
in a 309 Form.
Well it still early in the learning process and I may have the usage
of the data confused. Just one of the training documents mention 309
and mapping.

IF there is no function in PAT-Winlink already I'll write a script to
extract the data from the files - b2f (?) and write it to a CSV file.

In the winlink Express program, you can right on the message in the receive box. A menu pops up and it says map. You click on it and the map shows up. In Pat-Winlink I don't have a clue how you get the info.
