I am trying to get pat to utilize a serial TNC connection to my Kenwood 710G TNC.  Connection alias as follows:

"

serial-tnc": {

    "path": "/dev/ttyUSB0",

    "baudrate": 9600,

    "type": "Kenwood"

  },

When I attempt a connection I see it successfully query the Kenwood TNC but nothing further occurs. There are no commands sent to actually commence the creation of a session.  Is this just a non-supported function in PAT? This works successfully with the Windows Winlink clients without issue.

At start of session creation:

I run pat with a D-710 through the Linux AX-25 stack.  I've never tried the serial connection, and frankly didn't realize it could be used.

As best I can tell, after the output you described, pat should be sending a "c <targetcall>" to the kenwood tnc, and expects a connected or disconnected response from the TNC.      Somehow/somewhere, that seems to be where things are getting stuck.

There are some comments in the code about flow control that might be relevant, but I don't have any better suggestions.

Thanks for the info, I will give it a shot.  I am going to see if I can get it operational by putting the TNC in KISS mode and calling it from AX25.

Tried putting it in KISS mode and connecting and was partially successful.  I seem to be getting the same problem that I have seen in multiple threads.  PAT and the TNC don't communicate well and I get an unexpected EOF error.  Using the D-710 TNC from RMS Express on Windows runs perfectly.
