Hello dear fellow OMs de Thomas, F4ILX en JN13bn

I'm very interested in PAT and Ardop.

I'm part of the French Ham Radio Emcom Team Ditrans of FNRASEC (users of Pactor 3 PTCs).

I do believe in light and effective solutions for quick and low power/low cost operations.

I would be very happy to connect my KX3 and TH-D74 through a Raspberry 3 alltogether with Pat :)

Tell me please how can I help ?

I'm not a great technician nor coder, but i'm professionally experienced in writing litterature (slideshows, user guidances, marketing...) and also in translating (EN to FR or/and IT)

I really strongly believe in that nice project !

Hello Thomas, and welcome to the pat-users list!

I am glad to see that the project interests you so much, and it seems like a common interest regarding light and effective operations. I am also involved in emcomm activity through our national and local group, and I am steadily working on improving Pat to the point that it can be a viable tool for emcomm activity.

The project is definitely in need of contributors of any kind, and I am certain that your skills can be of value to us :)

From the top of my head, I would love to see:
* Youtube videos showcasing Pat in various setups.
* Semi-graphical tutorials for specific use-cases/setups (i.e. running Pat on a Raspberry connected to a TH-D74 via bluetooth). Maybe as PDFs?

I've written the "official" documentation pages (https://github.com/la5nta/pat/wiki) to be as generic as possible regarding hardware. This was a deliberate decision in order to minimize the amount of time I spend writing documentation in these early stages of the project. Of course, this is less than ideal when it comes to drawing in new users in.

I believe a set of documents explaining all the steps needed to get a working setup with some specific hardware would be a valuable contribution to this project. Also, French and Italian translations would be a great bonus IMO.

Youtube videos could be in any form, ranging from informative tutorials to more "show off" videos using Pat as part of some creative setup (e.g. mobile/portable).

Does any of these suggestions sound appealing to you?

I will of course be available and try to answer any technical questions regarding best practice and solutions.

For the more technical documentation, I'm using the "documentation" tag in our issue tracker.

Hello Martin,

I'm very happy to interest you, i'm already communicating with some french OMs about your project and is connexion to ARDOP, that's for us a very light and effective setup.

I used to have a quite known blog about the beginning of the KX3 (http://kx3-fr.blogspot.fr/ about 30.000 visits)

I'm part of the ditrans, the international transmission group of the french EMCOMM association FNRASEC, I'm sure we can work with PAT.

Also all the local districts central administrations of the 100 french areas (departements) are QRV by the EMCOMM associations with an FT450+Signalink and a PC.

What a better way to offer mail transfer in any situation ?

I'll be back to you this week end, my week is full of work.

I'll make you a project about tutorials and litterature I can make.

Thank you and best 73s de F4ILX

Hi Thomas.

Great to see another KX3 user here.
As you can see PAT are no stranger to the KX3

If there is anything i can help with don't hesitate to ask. I will give you one tip right now.
Build your own cables for field use.
The Elecraft cables are to long and to many.
I use one cable for audio with an molded plug on the kx3 side. Since only an mono signal is necessary to the PC I use one side of the stereo output to monitor the signal with an ear plug.

It's much more easy to set up, an makes an more tidy operating environment.

BTW
I'm also involved in the same emcom group as Martin, and more than average interested in portable and field operation of ham radio.

Hello Erlend,

I'm very pleased to join that very nice group for that new radio experience.

I'm a very happy KX3 (SN #302, a very early bird, one of the first out here in Europe) owner and I would like to expand EMCOMM culture here in France, we still rely heavily on Analog.
I thinkwe need to widen our capabilities.

The KX3 with PAT is a nice proof of concept.

The multi platform and light footprint make it very nice for that purpose, I'm planning to develop some simple and effective litterature for explaining it, especially also about ARDOP and that nice pairing.

Thank you all for that nice welcoming and hope to be back quickly to you, as my professional planning let me work on it.
