AX25 port not disconnected

Hi,

I get:

"Unable to establish connection to remote: address already in use"

when trying to connect to Winlink again.

Seems to be a known ax25 bug.

Must restart ax25 before new login (sudo systemctl restart ax25)

Is there a way to automatically restart ax25 before a connect in Pat

You don't give any information about your setup, so I'm assuming here, but I

would strongly recommend that you not use the Linux AX.25 stack.  I say this

as a Linux kernel engineer who has looked at the code.

You have two other options.  Use agwpe and direwolf (probably the

recommended approach) or if you are adventurous and don't want to

run a separate modem program, you can use pat-gensio (which I

support).

My setup is:

My setup is an ASUS pc with Linux Mint. The radio is a LoRa T3 LoRa32 V1.6.1. with RNode TNC software in KISS mode connected to the ASUS PC via a USB cable.

 Test runs against my BPQ32 Winlink node with the same RNode etc.

 Since the Linux AX.25 stack doesn't work so well I will try pat-gensio instead.

Hmm, that's interesting.  I have used pat-gensio with an external TNC on some Kenwood rigs, but your setup is something new.  I was assuming you were using direwolf, which has a good AX.25 implementation, but I don't know if you can use direwolf to talk to a serial port.

Anyway, feel free to ask about setting it up.  The README at https://github.com/cminyard/pat has some help (and you don't have to build it yourself, you can download binaries from that site, I need to fix that documentation).
