I have PAT installed on a Linux Mint machine that has a wireless connection to my home network (router)
have a PAT jason config file that has my call, correct Winlink password, and grid square
I can see that the machine has an internet connection and the command line shows the available networks.

When a telnet "Connect to remote node ..." is attempted from within PAT HTTP, with these parameters:
transport: telnet target: wl2k

the bottom of the connection screen displays:

that attempt produces this result:
[date time] Connecting to WL2K (telnet)
[date time] Unable to establish connection to the remote: dial tcp: i/o timeout

I have looked through the PAT threads and searched the Internet and have not found a workable solution.
Not sure:
whether the problem results because "dial" is not what the connection should do or if the connection should use a different function?
whether CMST...@cms.winlink.org attempts to reach a workable address?
whether something else is mis-configured?

I appreciate help.
Thank you.
John

Well this isn't a PAT issue, it is an old interface that shouldn't been active on your box unless you had a DIAL up modem for for Internet connection.  Most folks have an Ethernet wire interface or WIFI interfacej these days.

Nope. That’s what golang calls establishing a tcp connection: https://golang.org/pkg/net/#Dial
