据了解，27日凌晨，在处理一起持刀打砸事件过程中，几名滋事者将警察围住。一个高个子民警喝令拿刀男子把刀放下，对方不听，举刀追砍民警。危急时刻，目击者看见年纪大的民警拔枪朝天开了一枪。枪响后，局面暂时稳定下来。当时无人知道这一枪打中了人，直到伤者的妻子下楼来求救，随后伤者被送到医院后经抢救无效死亡。事发时，被击中者从5楼窗户伸出头来往楼下看。
记者了解到，鸣枪民警今年50多岁，是一名副大队长。调查组认为，鸣枪示警却打伤群众致死纯属意外事件。事件发生后，凤山县委、县政府领导召集死者家属代表召开协调会，就有关补偿事宜进行沟通。按照相关的法律规定，双方进行协商，死者家属同意政府的补偿意见。28日晚，死者家属已将死者下葬，事件已经妥善解决。(完)
