Good morning all,

If you own a Passport 41 could you please email me.  I would like to touch base with you.

Otherwise does anyone have a list of owners of Passport 41s?

I understand there were only ever 9 built, 1 is fire damaged and there is one called “Eclipse” and another “Jubilee”.

I look forward to hearing from you.

PS Magnificent day here today – all you Passporters should come sailing to Tasmania!

Cheers

William,

I am not aware of a list of P41s, but I will be happy to add them to my P40 database.  If there were only 9 built, that's absolutely no inconvenience for me.  As usual, I would want the exact hull number/identification, the name, owner name/whatever, hailing port, USCG Documentation # (if appropriate), and whatever other information owners might like me to capture.

I currently have information (not all of it reliable!) on two P41 hulls: Our Whim, and Jubilee.  I'm confident of the information I have about Jubilee, but rather skeptical about Our Whim, for several reasons, not the least of which is that the hull number makes no sense at all (e.g., the sequence number is 108 -- the hull ID I have is PAS41108H898 which is not organized like other hull numbers with which I'm familiar!!).

Do any of you know how many P42s were built?  I'm willing to add them as well, especially if there were not more than a few dozen.  The same goes for P43s.

Louis, I have Buttermilk as a P43, hull number 111, but the hull identification number makes no sense to me.  I think you told me that it was PAS43111D000, which is not organized like other hull numbers with which I'm familiar.  If this is incorrect information, please correct it for me!!

Hope this helps,
   Jim

P.S., I'd love to be down there in Tazzie with you; it's a gorgeous island with loads of great views and fun stuff to do.

I know of a Passport 41 (that was designed for offshore racing) that used to
be in Marina Del Rey. I think the name of it was Kowloon, but can't
remember for sure because it was so many years ago. Then...I think the boat
was sold and moved to the Bay Area and for a while at least was at Emery
Cove in Emeryville, CA. This particular Passport 41 had a modified keel so
I was told and a custom mast which was taller and lighter than the normal
production mast. Also, if I remember correctly the cap rail was more like
an aluminum toe rail which you see on a lot of production boats. The
interior was the standard Passport 41 interior and very nice as I remember
it. Don't know where the boat is now, but I'm sure that other Passport
owners in the Bay Area might remember this boat.

Take care from sunny and windy San Carlos, Mexico

Warren Peace just got pulled out of the water about an hour ago is going
into hibernation for six months.

William,

Hope this helps,
Jim

The Passport 43 is the same as a P41, except for a 24" x 24" storage compartment in the stern instead of a scoop.

The serial # PAS43111D000 is translated as follows:

PAS43 = Passport 43
111 = serial 111, not starting with 1
D = the fourth month of the year, ie March (A,B,C,D)
000 = the year 2000
So, we have learned that Buttermilk is a Passport 43 with serial number 111, built in March, 2000.

Perhaps Jubilee was built in month H in 1998. (why is there an H and an 8?)

Louis,

Thanks very, very much for the explanation of the P43 (and, apparently, later P41s) hull ID.

Do you know whether the serial "111" might imply "hull number 11 in series number 1"?  Or was it merely offset from 100?

Perhaps Jubilee was built in August of 1898? ;^)

Thanks again!
   Jim

John,

I thought I'd heard of Kowloon, too, but there's nothing in my
database about it, so perhaps I'm thinking of something else.

Thanks!

Two people on stern seats sitting above very large storage area accessed by Lewmar 24" hatch.

The Passport 43 is the same as a 41, except there is an aft storage compartment instead of a scooped stern.

We have Passport 43 BUTTERMILK, located in the Chesapeake Bay.
There is another Passport 43, HEALING REIJA in the Chesapeake Bay.

The more I think about this boat...I think it was moved from Emerville to

It is a Passport Eagle in flight.  It is more dynamic than the original full frontage eagle holding spears in one claw and olive branches in the other.
Still a stylized version as if done by an American Indian.
Color is blue.  I believe North Sails in Annapolis made the sail, and probably has this eagle in their files.
I do not have a better picture.

Jean,

Thanks for the information.  Knowing the number of P42s that were built will definitely help me to make an informed decision about whether I have the resources to incorporate them into my database.  51 is not so huge a number that I'm intimidated.  150 probably would be.

I think I'm willing to do this, and definitely appreciate your offer to start collecting information on as many as you can find.

I think this means that I've now signed up for P40s, P41s (at least the earlier incarnation, but perhaps all of them), P42s (same story), and P43s (same story).  Does anybody have any information about the number of P37s that were built?  If the number's not too large, I can include those, too.

Thanks!
   Jim
