Slocum 43 vs Passport 42

I was just going thru some old pictures and found this of a slocum 43. That boom is way longer than my P42. I wonder if that was be design or changed later.

Barry some were rigged with a shorter mast or taller also.  John

I think there is a chance that the boom in that picture is not the original.  The mast on that boat looks like a Kenyon spar (no relation) which is that same as mine and John B, but the boom looks like a much more round extrusion than mine.  At the age of these boats, there is no guarantee that anything is original, and maybe the owner wanted a lower aspect ratio sail.
