S8 - Citizens United/ MA Amendment

     Hi All,

          DO SOMETHING! That seems to be what I am hearing People ask their representatives. Any advance made in Climate Change has been nullified. The military is being deployed against the citizenry. Health care is being stripped away and masked ICE agents are grabbing People off the streets. DO SOMETHING! I have been stating for over a decade that the issues most important to You will not be addressed to your satisfaction until We end the corrupting influence of corporations and big money in our political process. Elon Musk contributed around 270M to get Trump elected and believes it got him elected. Corruption is no longer being investigated unless you are a Democrat. The IRS is being stripped down so the only People who will be made sure to pay their taxes are those getting a check or Democrats. DO SOMETHING!

          For S8 https://malegislature.gov/Bills/194/S8  to get on the ballot for the 2028 Federal election it needs to be voted on, with a majority in favor, in two consecutive sessions of the MA legislature and then go to the People for a vote to be ratified. All Amendments are voted on in joint sessions referred to as ConCons {Constitutional Conventions). One is "tentative" for Wednesday October 8th at noon.  https://malegislature.gov/Events/Sessions/Detail/7462 "Tentative" It might not even come up for a vote unless you DO SOMETHING!. 

          This Amendment will not overturn Citizens United. Our intent from the beginning was to have Massachusetts again lead the way in dire times to jumpstart the movement for a Federal Amendment. Have you Folks noticed what happened when one state started the process of redistricting out of time? Every other State, it seems, that could is going ahead with redistricting as best they can. They are trying to DO SOMETHING. This is what we have been trying to accomplish.

          S8 came out of the Election Laws joint committee https://malegislature.gov/Committees/Detail/J15 unfavorably because the House did not have their rules set and thereby did not vote. The Senate side was going to vote in favor but have less votes. Again, this joint session/ ConCon is "tentative" right now. We would suggest contacting the House Chair https://malegislature.gov/Legislators/Profile/djh1 , Senate Chair https://malegislature.gov/Legislators/Profile/JFK0 and all members to ask them to DO SOMETHING! and give US a vote. Speaker Marianohttps://malegislature.gov/Legislators/Profile/R_M1  will be needed. Please also contact your Representatives and ask them to DO SOMETHING! I believe it is especially important if you call and can say that this is your first time. Ask relatives and friends. If any of you Folks are affiliated with organizations, Please ask for their help. 

          The last ConCon was in March, I believe. They gavelled in, set the October date to reconvene and gavelled out. I drove four hours to testify. The only other person was Ellen F and she testified virtually. Thank You Kindly. I do not know who made phone calls or spoke in favor to others, but, we need you All to do it now. The issues that are most important to me, and most of You, are getting hammered and the People that I thought should be representing US seem to be handing out t-shirts saying "I AM A NAIL" We need to stop this by DOING SOMETHING!

           If any made it this far it is greatly appreciated. Just really frustrated with how bad things got after spending so much effort on the issue. There are so many to Thank from over the years. Attached are the non-binding ballot questions that a number of organizations and individuals worked together to get the vote. There were also around 150 City/ Town Resolutions asking for their representatives to do something about Citizens United. The vast majority done by individuals. I had a list but do not seem to be able to access it. I believe that I have the individual Resolutions if any would like to ask. Boston, Cambridge, Quincy, Springfield, Lynn, Salem... Thanx to All.
