My name is Janet and I am with Passive House Canada – a national non-profit that promotes the Passive House building standard. I am reaching out today to share an upcoming Master Class, Building Enclosures for High Performance Buildings that we are hosting in November in Saskatoon, SK.

 

In August 2017 the Federal Government released Build Smart – Canada’s Building Strategy, providing a pathway for Canada to build drastically better buildings. This policy initiative aims to make high-performance energy-efficient buildings the norm by 2030. The international Passive House Standard is identified as one way to achieve that target. Becoming trained in Passive House design and construction, and/or becoming a certified Passive House professional will position you for future building expectations and help you lead the way in the building industry.

• November 22, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm: Building Enclosures for High Performance Buildings - Saskatoon  This full-day course provides an in-depth discussion of high-performance building enclosures for North American buildings, including single-family homes and large commercial buildings, with a focus on walls, roofs and window systems. Numerous case studies will be presented to demonstrate how innovative building enclosures have been integrated into various projects ranging from mid-rise wood frame buildings and prefabricated Passive House buildings, to towering wood, concrete and steel structures.   A general understanding of building design and construction, including vapour barriers, insulation values, etc. is needed.  This course is not intended for those outside of the building industry.

As an industry professional who cares about sustainability, you are a valuable leader who is essential to the transformation of Canada’s built environment to one that is healthy and sustainable.
