The City of Saskatoon, with the help of a consultant, has released their Low Emissions Community Plan outlining a strategy to achieve 80% emission reduction by 2050!
Here's a link to the document.
And here's a link to the Global News article:
There's so much good stuff in the plan in addition to new-build Passive House: deep energy retrofits, PACE financing, solar, electric vehicles... See the report for all 40 actions.
I plan to write to council and speak in support of the plan at the August 6th meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Environment, Utilities and Corporate Services (9am in City Council Chambers).
Technically, council still needs to approve the plan and resource it through the budget so the more support, the better. You may even want to reach out to your Councillor directly.
Here are few interesting clips from the report:

According to the study, building new buildings to the Passive House standard
saves $202 / tonne of emissions reduction. Negative marginal cost of abatement.
Look at all the jobs:
I should also mention that Radiance Cohousing is hosting an open house tomorrow (Saturday, July 27th) from 12-5pm. In case anyone wants to see a Passive House first hand :)
Take care!
