Docker Desktop's functionality remains consistent on both WSL and Hyper-V, without a preference for either architecture. Hyper-V and WSL have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your specific set up and your planned use case.
Containers and images created with Docker Desktop are shared between alluser accounts on machines where it is installed. This is because all Windowsaccounts use the same VM to build and run containers. Note that it is not possible to share containers and images between user accounts when using the Docker Desktop WSL 2 backend.
Running Docker Desktop inside a VMware ESXi or Azure VM is supported for Docker Business customers.It requires enabling nested virtualization on the hypervisor first.For more information, seeRunning Docker Desktop in a VM or VDI environment.
From the Docker Desktop menu, you can toggle which daemon (Linux or Windows)the Docker CLI talks to. Select Switch to Windows containers to use Windowscontainers, or select Switch to Linux containers to use Linux containers(the default).
Getting Started with Windows Containers (Lab)shows you how to use theMusicStoreapplication with Windows containers. The MusicStore is a standard .NET application and,forked here to use containers, is a good example of a multi-container application.
If you set proxies or daemon configuration in Windows containers mode, theseapply only on Windows containers. If you switch back to Linux containers,proxies and daemon configurations return to what you had set for Linuxcontainers. Your Windows container settings are retained and become availableagain when you switch back.
--admin-settings: Automatically creates an admin-settings.json file which is used by admins to control certain Docker Desktop settings on client machines within their organization. For more information, see Settings Management.
--always-run-service: After installation completes, starts com.docker.service and sets the service startup type to Automatic. This circumvents the need for administrator privileges, which are otherwise necessary to start com.docker.service. com.docker.service is required by Windows containers and Hyper-V backend.

From the Downloads folder, right-click on the file mattermost-desktop-setup-5.8.1-win.exe, then select Open to start an installer for the app. Once finished, the Mattermost desktop app opens automatically.
Automatic desktop app updates can be disabled by configuring the supported group policy. See the MSI installer and group policy documentation for instructions on installing the Mattermost Desktop App via an MSI installer, and configuring supported group policies. Changes to group policies require you to restart Mattermost for those changes to take effect.
Both a .deb package (Beta), and an official APT repository is available for Debian 9 and for Ubuntu releases 20.04 LTS or later. Automatic app updates are supported and enabled. When a new version of the desktop app is released, your app updates automatically.
A snap is available for systems that have Snapcraft installed. Snapcraft is installed by default on Ubuntu 16.04 and later, but for most other Linux distributions you can install it manually. To install Snapcraft, see Install snapd on the Snapcraft website for details.
A AppImage distribution (Beta) of a compressed tarball is available. Automatic app updates are supported and enabled. When a new version of the desktop app is released, your app updates automatically.
Extract the archive to a convenient location, then give chrome-sandbox in the extracted directory the required ownership and permissions: sudo chown root:root chrome-sandbox && sudo chmod 4755 chrome-sandbox
Prior to uninstalling, you can choose to log out of any active sessions. You can terminate active sessions from another Mattermost session in Profile > Security > View and Logout of Active Sessions, then select Log Out. Desktop app sessions are labeled as Native Desktop App.
On macOS Catalina, this dialog can be triggered if the Mac Archive Utility is the default method for decompressing files. In this case using a third-party tool such as Keka or Unarchiver may resolve the problem.
This issue can occur on Windows in a multiple-monitor setup. When you disconnect the monitor that Mattermost is displayed on, Mattermost continues to display at screen coordinates that no longer exist.
You can open an additional set of developer tools for each server you have added to the desktop app. The tools can be opened by pasting this command in the Developer Tools Console you opened with the steps described above:

Once downloaded, it appears to install normally and asks for my login details and which folders to sync. Then it closes and I can no longer access the desktop app interface. Clicking on the app icon opens only the File Explorer window whereas I was expecting a separate app interface. There are no error messages.

Hi Jay, thanks for this. Yes am clicking on that icon - and the good news is that since I put this post up I tried one last reinstall, and now it seems to work! At least, clicking on the icon opens a window with sync history / activity tabs and the option to change preferences etc via my circle on the top right. I guess this is the desktop app?
Hi, I have the same issue (Dropbox not starting) (I'm on Windows 11) - I've done all the checks described here including uninstalling and reinstalling Dropbox 4 times. In my case, after installing dropbox, I never even get to the point that it asks me to sign in. It just blanks on me and does not appear either in the tray (in the task manager, dropbox does appear on the list but when I right click on the icon to see the properties it says DropboxCrashHandler).

Description: Some devices with quad channel microphone (like HP Elitebook) have audio redirection issues with Teams on 2105 and above. To fix these issues, a registry key needed to be added manually -[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Citrix\HDXMediaStream] "DisableADM2"=dword:1. The attached .reg file can be executed on impacted devices to automatically add the same registry key and hence fix the issue.
This ZIP file contains sample scripts to deploy and configure Citrix Workspace app. It is an optional download, provided on an as-is basis by Citrix to serve as an example.
