AFSC has a number of national and local activities you can participate in.

From September through May, conference calls relating to each AFSC topic are offered. The May 2016 call addressed Central American Immigrant Refugee Issues. I will share the upcoming call information here and through the OGMM email list as information becomes available.

This summer, there are a number of interns working in the LA office who are organizing an event; details will be forthcoming.

If you know of an AFSC event or activity you'd like us to know about, feel free to share it here too! Your participation is not only welcome, but important!

AFSC maintains an archive of past conference calls at the following webpage. Many of the past calls are archived for replay.

The call in May was titled, "Call for Spirited Action 2015-2016: Love knows no borders"
Pedro Rios, director of the AFSC’s U.S./Mexico Border Program in San Diego, and Jennifer Piper, Interfaith Organizing Director for Immigrant Rights for AFSC in the Denver Office, were the speakers for the call.

Greetings Friends!

Our first Call for Spirited Action of the season will take place September 22 at 8:30PM EST.

Introduction to Quaker Social Change Ministry –
Please RSVP here:

Are you wondering if Quaker Social Change Ministry (QSCM) is a good fit for your meeting or church? Please join Lucy Duncan, Director of Friends Relations, and Greg Elliott, Friends Relations Associate, in this Call for Spirited Action to learn more about QSCM and how you can use this Spirit-led model for social change.

As Quakers, our faith calls us to be agents for social change. Without a supportive community, social change work can be draining, confusing, unsustainable, frustrating, and scattered. Quaker Social Change Ministry provides a simple but transformative approach to doing social change work, bringing together small groups of Friends to focus on an issue that connects the congregation, the local community, and AFSC. A Quaker Social Change Ministry group is a place to worship, build trust, take risks, make mistakes, learn together, and deepen the connection between social change and spiritual growth. The Quaker Social Change Ministry group becomes a home base from which Friends engage with the world and return for reflection, discussion, and renewal. Quaker Social Change Ministry connects Friends to that which is larger than ourselves and calls us into right relationship as we walk beside our partners and endeavor to co-create the Beloved Community.
